1  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: satellite tv in the usa on: November 19, 2007, 01:49:14 am
He is talking about dvb-s cards and sasc, and a patch to myth that allows for their use together.  You would have to have one hell of a user unfriendly accident to break the law there. It involves downloading source, patching, then compiling it, and a hefty configuration and setup.  Put it this way, you would know it if ya do it, as there is only one goal on that path.

I (obviously) am also in the same hobby as him, Hell, we might even know of each other under different user names.... Small world!! LOL.   I have strongly considered the solution that he hints at, but I have a solution I prefer more, plastic is much less downtime.

Anyone interested in dvb-s piracy should hit up dvbn.happysat.org --- Sat piracy in general - dsstester.com.

I am mainly looking at a way to limit the amout of equipment that I have to have. sort of a all in one option.

that wireless network card is a bitch to get going. if you go to the Ubuntu forums they have a fix which I assume will work for linuxmce.

7  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Install hangs after /dev/sda5: uuid="3604..." type="swap" on DVD install. on: September 12, 2007, 07:37:36 am
I had that problem when I used my sata ports on my motherboard. the drive was a 500gig one so that may be the problem. or since the sata ports were one of the first to come out so maby that is also the problem.

I did how ever use my 160gig ide and it seems to be working now but will find out tomorrow.
8  LinuxMCE / Users / how fast is the tv capture? on: September 12, 2007, 06:23:02 am
I am using an old pc at the moment just to play around.

now my old pc tends to lag a bit when it comes to things like an xbox/ps2 ect using my capture card(it to is an old version from 3-4 years ago).
if I get a new pc and a good tv capture card will I still have that problem?

as well this is a basic yes/no question hdmi some motherboards I see have it already but as long as it is nividia based will hdmi work?
