Feature requests & roadmap / Re: MediaCenter for my grandmother

6. Isnt this http://plutohome.com/ It already is an insert, hit reset, answer few questions, auto install all in one distro.

Im still yet to realise the purpose of this fork in this respect. Shouldnt the core be a black box lean custom server distro rather than a full blown desktop distro ?

Hi,

I looked at pluto a while back and ended up using http://www.team-mediaportal.com/ just joting my experience here.

The custom pluto distro was from what i recall insert, reboot, and answer questions, so im not sure if the split from the underlying distro is a good move.

I had more success with the linuxmce install by doing the optional ubuntu updates.

I got linuxmce up on a old dell P4 866 two ethernet cards simplifies getting it up.

Both my desktop pc (a couple years old) and entertainment pc (only 6 months old) fail to pxe boot with a kernel panic. Why ?

My laptop boots but i cant get the new UI up - nvidia geforce 440 go 64meg graphics, tried various settings.

It didnt seem obvious to me that the first media director is the hybrid screen.

Some sample media would actually allow it to do something out the box.

How do you scan the whole network for media ?

So after many hours ive plug-ged all the kit i have and not much play-ed
