hey,

how did you install eibd? My problem is, i can't start eibd. I tried it with the same command as in 8.10 (which worked) but with no luck. Is there a problem with ubuntu 10.04/eibd/RS232 interfaces?

thanks

19  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: Slow Internet/ssh Connection on 1004 MD on: November 17, 2011, 09:29:58 pm
okay, i think it is a dns problem. When i try to download a large file from the internet with wget it takes very long to resolve the domain. After that the download is very fast. Anyone knows where i can modify the dns servers?

thanks
20  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / [SOLVED] Slow Internet/ssh Connection on 1004 MD on: November 17, 2011, 08:53:04 pm
Hi,

i'm testing the new 1004 and it looks quite good. But i have some problems where i don't know what to do...

1.) Booting is very slow. I think about 5-10 min until Orbiter is ready.
2.) When i want to ssh from the core to the md it takes about 3 min to have the prompt. After that it works with normal speed.
3.) Internet connection is also very slow. When i try to ping google it takes very long.

Any tips where i can find logs or something else?

thanks in advance

21  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: HDMI audio...(again!) on: November 12, 2011, 10:17:00 pm
Ok, I think this is just the evolution of alsa as I can't seem to get this fully working after upgrading alsa to .23 or .24 or upgrading the kernel to the latest version available (3.x) as well as the latest nvidia driver.

The furthest I got was getting stereo to push via HDMI. I had myth working as well though the Dolby and DTS passthroughs were not working, neither were any multi-channel audio tests (nothing more than stereo) by updating the

At this point i'm reverting back to a TOSlink/SPDIF cable so i can continue regression testing the box.

I've posted my progress/notes here:
http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Zotac_Zbox_ID41-U

any news for the audio over hdmi problem with the zotac?

thanks

I would probably get me another Atom based system to use as a test bed. The fast switching still works Smiley

hmm. quite a good idea! i have to check if there is enough space for a second pc. I know the atom based system are very small, but the space in the closet is very very small... But the problem with this solution is: for a backup i have to power off the system and use clonezilla or something else.
23  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Hardware/Virtualbox/Core on: May 03, 2011, 10:09:35 am
yeah, i've looked at clonezilla a while before. But another big advantage of a VM is: i have a stable running 0810 system and a test 1004 version. When wife wants to watch a movie i can switch really fast between the two versions... Smiley
24  LinuxMCE / Users / Hardware/Virtualbox/Core on: May 03, 2011, 08:32:15 am
Hello,

it's time for a new Core!  Grin

Currently my core runs very well on a Intel Atom D525 - not quite fast but very low power, which is very important because it's running 24/7. The main reason why i want a new Core is the ability to have full backups.
Last weekend i tried Virtualbox but the Atom don't have Virtualisation so it's very very slow. Unusable... So i need some advice on a cheab, low power CPU/Mainboard which does well with virtualisation. Is an AMD Athlon or Sempron fast enough? Or are there any other ideas how to full backup a running system?
I don't want to backup media because media is stored on an unRaid server.

thanks.

hi,

don't know if it is possible to sort Videos by Creation Date. This Sort order would be great to see Videos which myhtv recorded last night. I know that i can go in myhtv to media list and watch them there - now we do this all the time, but i think it would be much better to watch them with xine...

thanks

30  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: KNX hardware list on: March 03, 2011, 01:08:55 pm
Just to clear things up a bit:

* I am using KNX with only LinuxMCE as the logic controller for events.
* There are KNX logic devices available, which work without a PC, which probably can do the same thing that the PC can do.

I *personally* prefer to have my computer to more advanced stuff, but that's just me.

hi posde,

do you also have a logic in linuxmce for a "night light"? For example, when you turn on the light at midnight it will only dimm to 30%. I tried to realize this, but the problem is i had to change the group addresses and if linuxmce server is not running the telegrams go to nirvana.
