On behalf of all nvidia 8500GT owners using Linuxmce THANK YOU!!!! I just finished getting it up and running on my westinghouse 42 inch HD (Which required a firmware update). Could you please update the wiki with this info ? It is most helpful.
21  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: HDTV in LinuxPCE on: March 25, 2007, 01:39:51 am
I guess this depends on what version of mythtv linuxmce is utilizing. I know the PCHDTV cards where working as early as 2004 with myth. Finding the modlines while not frying your hdtv would be the biggest concern I guess. But that is already a concern with mythtv. So it seems on the surface that any concern would be the same as the concerns in myth because it is myth + Asterisk+zoneminder..etc
22  LinuxMCE / Feature requests & roadmap / Re: harmony remote and linux MCE on: March 22, 2007, 11:38:05 pm
with a bluetooth dongle you can use many cellphones as remotes. check out the posts in the archive about mobile "orbiter" (sp?). Also Linux MCE should Learn your IR remote codes and be smart enough to enable you to use "any" remote you have to navigate the orbitor on the MD (at least that was the case/goal in pluto.)
23  LinuxMCE / Feature requests & roadmap / Re: diskless linux MCE? on: March 22, 2007, 11:35:52 pm
Yes, linux MCE Media directors use pxe to boot from the "core" (backend in myth speak)
24  LinuxMCE / Users / Thin client MD giving the 6040A a try. on: March 22, 2007, 09:30:16 pm
To start off , not affiliated with this company at all, but giving their 6040A thin client a shot. It PXE boots and is only  139 USD. The upside is the company headquarters, I discovered, is near where I live in PA. It is a fanless, diskless machine. I just ordered two and took the option to pick them up so I could see their offices. I'll report back here how it works out if I can ever get the installer Smiley. All else fails i'll try it with pluto Roll Eyes.

26  LinuxMCE / Installation issues / Re: tech requirements? on: March 22, 2007, 04:15:51 pm
It says that for the core you can get away with a P4 with 80 gig drive and two network cards:

I would think about the same for a hybrid.
27  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Most basic setup...do I need automation right now? on: March 22, 2007, 04:01:34 pm
Good to see a fellow mythtv user attempt to take the plunge.  Smiley I would check out the archive section of these forums. There are a lot of experiences that the guys using pluto have documented that may be helpful. I plan on following the same path and I am reluctant to kill my beloved mythbox. I have found several posts in the archive that talk about using a pure myth frontend with the linux mce/pluto "core" as a backend or using your current myth setup as a slave backend. This may be the intermediate step we are looking for.
28  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: DVD iso playback? on: March 22, 2007, 03:45:29 pm
I've been a mythtv user for 3 years so maybe I can help you out on this one since linux mce uses mythtv or vdr. I've had no problems playing .iso and .mdf files on mythtv. Mythtv uses mplayer by default for videos and xine for dvd disks. I hope this helps.
29  LinuxMCE / Users / Re: Download info on: March 22, 2007, 03:40:15 pm
I'll gladly seed also. I've been researching pluto until this came along and I am anxious to get this going.
