I think you can Install ubuntu 6.10 on a partition of your hdd and this way you can keep your media too, or you could add another hard drive and Linux MCE will auto-detect your hdd with media.
Best regards,

John

Yes you can try that. First thing you have to do is install Ubuntu 6.10 then download the get the installer from www.LinuxMCE.com, after this step you must  download the iso from the torent. When you get to A/V wizard be sure you select the UI 1 Static images because your pc has low resources and this UI should work. Good luck!

You can change the UI from web-admin on the section media directories and you have UI option in the bottom right corner and you have 3 options there. UI1 , UI2 without alpha blended and UI2 with alpha blended, I use UI2 with alpha-blended it is pretty cool with transparency.

I had the same problem with broken packages but that was on the old ISO and now there is a new one and it works fine.

I had an ATI video card but was not too good I could barely setup UI1, but with   nvidia I could do UI2 with alpha-blended and till now seems ok.

Have you downloaded the last ISO? You must be sure you have the last installer from the website and be sure to burn the cd as an ISO.

Y1n_X1 -maybe you have a problem with the CD. Have you burned the image correctly? I have installed linux MCE on 2 systems and it worked just fine. I m sure that you have a problem with your CD or CD-ROM. Try to burn another CD. Hopefully this will solve your problem.

It could be from you because I do not have this problem. Maybe it`s from your hardware, maybe CPU is too low or something like that.
