LinuxMCE / Pluto Main General Issues / Transcoding & SaveMythRecording
on: February 02, 2007, 09:11:01 pm
hi, since .44 mythtv is running again So i tried to record some shows and played a little bit with "Editing" in mythtv (i am just new to mythtv). When i record something it will be a *.mpg (DVB-S) but when i transcode it, it is a *.nuv file. What should i do with such a file? I can't play it with pluto, or am i missing something? The SaveMythRecording is great, but it would be better to include also the transcoded files... regards avajon

LinuxMCE / MythTV Plugin Users / Missing DVB/DiSEqC support at v. 2.0.0.43
on: February 02, 2007, 07:14:15 pm

I suspect that the problem is related with MythTV compile options. By default a support of DVB switched off: Enable MythTV DVB Support If you built MythTV without DVB support you'll have to enable it now and recompile. Edit the file settings.pro in the top level mythtv directory. Find the DVB section and uncomment the lines. Edit the INCLUDEPATH line to point to the directory where you have the DVB driver source code. For example I have this:
# DVB support CONFIG += using_dvb DEFINES += USING_DVB INCLUDEPATH += /opt/DVB-Kernel/dvb-kernel/linux/include Is there some way to see what compile options were applied in the pluto mythtv package?

LinuxMCE / Orbiter - Developers / Orbiter on Zaurus III
on: February 01, 2007, 09:24:08 am
Hi Rob, The first command orbiter is sending to DCERouter when it starts is "Get Remote Control Mapping" command (id #688), but the router doesn't seem to respond: 10 01/29/07 2:42:59.687 Socket::ReceiveString2 ReceiveData failed m_Socket: -1 Event Dev #20 01 01/29/07 2:42:59.689 [31;1mInternalSendCommand cannot send with return message. type 1 id 688 to -2000 Going to quit[0m
We'll need to investigate this. Maybe it's a serialization problem, we'll have to find. Going with small steps, we'll have to compile MessageSend tool (src/MessageSend) which does nothing else but to send a command to the router. After compiling it, on zaurus, run it with the following arguments: ./MessageSend dcerouter -r -o 0 7 1 688 Let me know if this works and also send me the lines of log from router when this happens. Best regards, Cristian Miron

LinuxMCE / MythTV Player Users / ivtv problems?

I have been beating on Myth in Pluto for some time. I have determined that there are some bugs in the autoconfig scripts and Pluto is working on them. MythTV is so complex that integrating it is really challenging.
I'm using the HDHomerun networked tuner and the promise of auto setup is close. When they have the scripts working for me I will post. Demian

LinuxMCE / MythTV Plugin Users / Plutohome core vs. Mythtv backend
on: January 31, 2007, 10:06:06 am
My first Pluto setup, and I have a structural question before I can even start : I have an old server that is very reliable and want to use it as my Pluto core (it's a Dell Poweredge with dual 1.266 Ghz Xeons, 4Gb RAM, one 18Gb SCSI drive for the OS and then 5x73Gb SCSI drives in a RAID5 for storage). It's a fine machine by all means, but slightly lacking on the CPU speed side.
Question : for my media directors, would it be best to put the PVR350 in the media director or in the core ? I guess that if want to use more than 1 media director at the same time, I should put PVR350 s or PVR500 s in each media director, but would like your advice if you have experience with this kind of setup.
Of particular concern here : will this mean that I will have to pull TV distribution cable and satellite cable to each media director ? If I put, say 3 cards in the core, does this mean I can have PiP Picture in Picture functionality on one MD while watching the 3rd tuner on another MD ?
In general, I don't quite get how the backend / frontend concept combines with video functionality and Plutohome.

LinuxMCE / Pluto Main General Issues / Upgrade the installer to r1
on: January 30, 2007, 10:55:51 pm
This may not be a 'bug fix' but it seriously limits hardware compatibility...
Upgrade the kernel to 2.6.18 / the Debian installer from r0 to r1. I posted some stuff about this in the SATA 'sticky' at the top of this forum. Upgrading the installer to r1 would add alot more hardware support, and get rid of the SATA problem.
