So will you be using an LMCE security camera for a baby monitor or an AngelCare monitor like everyone else?

One option is to mod the case and resolder the power cable connection. But then you need to hide the brick...

Another issue (IMHO) is the lack of an ethernet port (which could also provide you with POE). At my place the 2.4GHz band is very crowded and my wifi often drops packets.

A few basic questions:
- Is an AgoControl 'core' expected to act as a router/firewall as in the LMCE 'core' sense or is it just another network device?
- What do you envision its role in media delivery to be? In fact, what functions/services do you expect an AgoControl 'core' to provide? A big-picture overview would be helpful.

Developers / Re: lmce-admin redesign ?
« on: November 10, 2012, 02:48:22 am »
My immediate thoughts on the web-admin are:

1) The top and side menus are redundent in some areas, but not in others. That is, there are *sometimes* two ways to get to the same page, but in many cases you need to dig through the nested top menu. I found this confusing, especially initially. It makes the interface seem overwhelming.

2) I wish there were an easier way to override the web-admin. For example, I have a custom asterisk configuration that required manually tweaking a few of the asterisk config files. These modifications are outside the scope of the web-admin but it constantly tries to overwrite my manually tweaked files. Ditto with some of my firewall rules and my postfix config. I wish there were an simple check-box to allow the user to manually configure the associated configuration files.  I also would like the web-admin to verbosly list all of the config files that are being changed when you click the update/submit button.

Users / O2 Joggler or similar
« on: October 29, 2012, 12:54:15 pm »
I'm looking for a smaller (7-9") touch-screen tablet that I can permanently plug-in and mount to a wall in a kitchen and a bedroom. I envision these as being mainly used to control the thermostat/lighting and as a squeezebox player on steroids. I know there was someone playing with an O2 Joggler a while back and I was wondering if these are still viable options for either an orbiter or (ideally) a MD/media endpoint.

Any suggestions on pre-paring myself for the switch, or is it pretty much ground zero rebuild? I have made most of my changes into automated scripts so that hopefully if the DB structures are not too different deployment should go well. But please let me know if anyone else has had an experience good or bad with upgrading from 810 to 1004

Curious, what sort of 'change' did you implement in your automated scripts?

Users / Re: cisco 79xx .cnf.xml files?
« on: February 29, 2012, 07:40:14 pm »
Possy pointed out in IRC that the .cnf files come from the perl scripts  /usr/pluto/bin/configure_cisco79**.pl.

I think part of my problem is that I'm picking up settings from my previous provisioning of this phone.

Users / cisco 79xx .cnf.xml files?
« on: February 29, 2012, 05:38:11 am »
I'm trying to get a cisco 7960 configured in 10.04 but I've run into some trouble. I've noticed that the /tftpboot/SIPDefault.cnf is being re-written at various points which removes my required 'nat_enable: 1' setting as well as my services, directory, and xml browser entries. In /var/www/lmce-admin/cisco-xml-phone-directory/Readme.txt I observed a reference to an xml equivalent to these .cnf files (i.e. /tftpboot/SEPDefault7970.cnf.xml, which should probably be /tftpboot/SIPDefault7970.cnf.xml). Is this still the way things are done in 10.04? Is there a template/schema I should follow to generate one of these for my 7960?

The phone seems to be perpetually 'Configuring IP' and getting status errors on the phone which read:
W351 unprovisioned proxy_emergency
W350 unprovisioned proxy_backup
W250 TFTP Error: Timeout dialplan.xml

I entered the mac address range and the phone was initially found and added by the orbiter.

Any ideas?

Installation issues / Re: Core as a VM on a mac OSX server
« on: February 16, 2012, 08:24:10 pm »
Bare-metal hypervisors work fine if your hardware is well supported and you can wrap your head around the networking. I did this for a while running ESXi. It can also be a pain to get pci cards to pass-through properly to the OS in my experience. The requirements for a core machine are modest so you can get away with a pretty minimal computer by today's standards.

I'm looking at getting a new TV and was wondering if anyone has any insight on the Sony Bravia series (I'm looking at the KDL46EX521).  There is a thread about Dianemo supporting some sort of DLNA/UPnP content trickery which eliminates the need for a media director. A few questions:
- Is this something that is supported by LMCE in general or just with Dianemo?
- Are there any downsides to doing this as opposed to bolting a MD to the back of the TV?
- If it is currently Dianemo specific, is there anyone currently working on adding this feature to LMCE?

Installation issues / Re: New 1004 Installer Testing
« on: February 05, 2012, 04:05:11 am »
Tried installing 1004 on my old firewall box. Prior to downloading/installing mce-install.sh, kubuntu was working fine (both nics, X, etc).  After installing, X is broken due to fglrx not supporting the ancient onboard ATI graphics adapter. Manually switching back to the "mach64" driver and re-writing the xorg.conf file is the current fix.

Hi Andrew,

Sorry for the vague question, but is there a post/wiki entry that outlines what the difference between a LMCE and a Dianemo software-only system actually is?

Thanks.
