I have problems with the display on my TV too. My problem is that the image is just shifted to the right a little bit. To fix this I use the nice modeline calculator found here: http://www.epanorama.net/faq/vga2rgb/calc.html and with a little trial and error I found settings to shift the image enough to fit within the screen properly. Hope this helps.

Here is a splash that has already been made: http://svn.linuxmce.org/trac.cgi/ticket/656

It would probably be better to just put "Install Linuxmce" to the top of the list on the boot screen of the install disk.

Have you seen this: http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AVWizard?  In the section "What to do if A/V Wizard does not start" it basically says to press buttons 1-5 waiting to see if the screen shows up.  I don't think the buttons are labeled correctly on that page though.

I'll take a look at this.  I work full time (40+ hours) and am a full time grad student, so if anyone can get this done faster be my guest.

With mine sometimes it feels like it goes into a sleep mode.  If I hold down a button for a few seconds or press it repeatedly it'll start working again.

Have you tried searching elsewhere to see if this drive works under linux at all?  What is the model number?

With the pvr 500 one of the coax inputs is for TV, the other for radio. As far as I know the radio is unsupported in linux. You can connect another cable box with a coax combiner, but you need to be able to have the cable boxes output to separate channels.

try "sudo apt-get dist-upgrade"
"sudo apt-get install X" will try to install package "X", whatever it may be, and there is no package named dist-upgrade. That is why it says dist-upgrade is unavailable.

Sounds like either the remote or the dongle has gone bad.

Have you tried changing the batteries in the remote?

To get mine to install I had to install the latest nvidia drivers when the kde desktop showed up during the installation. When I didn't install the nvidia drivers before I continued with the installation I couldn't see anything on the screen after a reboot. I don't know if this will help you out, but it's worth a shot.

You can, but I'm pretty sure you'll miss out on a lot of the features if you decide to go that route. If you search around it's been done, I can't remember where, but I think I've seen something in the wiki and the forums.

http://webpix.ca/files/ I did some digging and found some pdf's with the RS232 info that you need to get the reciever working. As far as getting this setup in LinuxMCE, I don't have the time to look at it, but I don't think it would be too hard.

I would like to point out that if you plan on playing any type of game on your PS3 or XBOX, you do not want to connect them to the LMCE system. You're better off just moving the system from room to room. Otherwise you'll see a noticeable amount of lag between button presses and responses on the screen.  If you still want them in the system you'll need some sort of capture card and I think component is the only option there(correct me if I'm wrong).
