I am having the same powerloss on x10 items comming from x10-hk.com

Now I have some zwave items on its way.

standby power consumption for my lighting devices is +-250watts what is unnacceptable IMO (15 wall plugs).

I use current cost to measure power consumption currentcost.com

Users / Re: How the #@$# do I customize asound.conf?
« on: November 15, 2011, 08:34:32 am »
What I did in my system was to create a "asound.conf.ok" file with the proper configuration and change the .sh created "asound.conf" with the one I created on the last step of the bootup.

That did the trick.

Check http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php/topic,11460.msg79404.html#msg79404 and read replies 8 and 9

I am also a s10.10 user

I had some problems at the beginning, mainly with my gt220, but Andrew was helpful and commited.

I sent him around 10 emails and all of them got replied.

Hope you solve your issues soon.

Dear Andrew,

That was much easier than I was trying. Thank you with your help. It works now!

I've gone further with my setup adding my two squeezeboxes, Wiimote and IOS devices without a problem. Also I've added the CM11A and some lights perfectly.

However, I've tried to connect a LG 32LD650 to the Core via Rs232 and it detects it as a "Generic LG RS232 lcase proto on HDMI" I configure it on the guide, I reload the router, but time later it detects it again and the process starts over. Is there a way to turn detection off?

Thank you again.

Installation issues / Dianemo s10.10 No sound
« on: September 18, 2011, 02:35:45 pm »
Good afternoon,

I am trying to install s10.10 on an ASUS P5QL/EPU Mobo with XFX GT220 on it.

I have no problem with the onboard audio card on Ubuntu 10.10 and, after a little tweak on /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, /etc/pulse/default.pa and /etc/asound.conf, HDMI audio work.

When I install Dianemo, system looses all the audio cards (probably an asound.conf configuration problem), and I can't play media (when going to ubuntu desktop audio properties it just shows a dumb audio device, not the onboard audio nor the HDMI audio that was shown before installing Dinaemo).

aplay -l shows:
Quote
tarjeta 0: Intel [HDA Intel], dispositivo 0: VT1708S Analog [VT1708S Analog]
  Subdispositivos: 2/2
  Subdispositivo #0: subdevice #0
  Subdispositivo #1: subdevice #1
tarjeta 0: Intel [HDA Intel], dispositivo 1: VT1708S Digital [VT1708S Digital]
  Subdispositivos: 1/1
  Subdispositivo #0: subdevice #0
tarjeta 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], dispositivo 3: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
  Subdispositivos: 1/1
  Subdispositivo #0: subdevice #0
tarjeta 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], dispositivo 7: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
  Subdispositivos: 1/1
  Subdispositivo #0: subdevice #0
tarjeta 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], dispositivo 8: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
  Subdispositivos: 1/1
  Subdispositivo #0: subdevice #0
tarjeta 1: NVidia [HDA NVidia], dispositivo 9: NVIDIA HDMI [NVIDIA HDMI]
  Subdispositivos: 1/1
  Subdispositivo #0: subdevice #0

gstreamer-properties shows that my HDMI audio uses hw:1,3 hw:1,7 hw:1,8 and hw:1,9

if I use "aplay -D hw:1,7 /usr/share/sounds/alsa/Noise.wav" it sounds via the HDMI.

Everytime I restart Dianemo it modifies back my /etc/asound.conf to:
Quote
pcm_slave.spdif_convert48k {
   pcm "spdif:0"
   rate 48000
}

pcm.spdif_playback {
   type plug
   slave spdif_convert48k
}

pcm_slave.hdmi_convert48k {
   pcm "hw:0,7"
   rate 48000
}

pcm.hdmi_playback {
   type plug
   slave hdmi_convert48k
}

pcm.asym_spdif {
   type asym
   playback.pcm "spdif_playback"
   capture.pcm "plughw:0"
}

pcm.asym_hdmi {
   type asym
   playback.pcm "hdmi_playback"
   capture.pcm "plughw:0"
}

pcm.asym_analog {
   type asym
   playback.pcm "plug:dmix:0"
   capture.pcm "plughw:0"
}
pcm.!default asym_hdmi

I see that plughw:0 is wrong, it should be hw:1. Also, I guess it should also be 1,7 instead of 0,7.

How can I modify the asound.conf file permanently without dinaemo changing it on bootup?

Thank you in advance.

Alejandro

Hi Andrew,

I find interesting being able to get just the software solution. However I have some questions, I would be pleased if you could answer them.

Firstly, about the upnp & DLNA support, is LG and/or Samsung already supported or on its way? Also, do you have a Wiki page or a list of supported pnp devices?

Secondly, is the upgrade to 11.04 included? Maybe a silly question, I guess every update would be included for as long as you still have the 12 months support or you still pay the maintenance afterwards.

Thirdly, How much would it cost the maintenance? I couldn't find it on the topic.

Thank you for your help.

Installation issues / Upgrade from x10 to zwave (EU)
« on: April 24, 2011, 06:28:06 pm »
Hi guys,

I am considering to upgrade my existing X10 installation from X10 to Zwave.

Right now I am using these devices to control my lighting:

One load micro module http://x10-hk.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_29&products_id=45
Two load micro module http://x10-hk.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_29&products_id=71
Manual http://www.x10-hk.com/store/manual/2264E.pdf

Since I have a three cable installation already made, It's pretty straight forward to upgrade.

But I have read the forums, wiki and some other websites and I don't find a correlation for those devices (or most likely, I have a mess in my head).

Would this devices be the correlation?

one load: http://www.eurox10.com/Product/ZWave/merten/ZWmerten507501.htm
two load: http://www.eurox10.com/Product/ZWave/merten/ZWmerten507502.htm

I have a momentary switch connected to the x10 devices right now so I can do local control and LMCE control. Will these devices allow that too? will they allow me to connect the actual momentary switches?

Will the devices resend the zwave signal to other devices in the network?

Thank you in advance!

Alejandro

I don't think it's because of the HDD, unless it is a faulty one.

Can you select 32-bit instruction set?

Can you perform the install with a vga screen (at a later point you'll change it to VGA).

As l3mce said, have you grabbed the snapshot from http://linuxmce.iptp.org/snapshots/  ??

Right now I have LinuxMCE-8.10-23753-i386.iso and works for me, I saw a post saying that someone had problems with LMCE splash screen comming up with the latest snapshot.

Installation issues / Re: [almost solved] Video files not playing
« on: February 28, 2011, 08:42:50 pm »
Ok, I reply to myself, and maybe someone having my same problem.

I added a line in /etc/rc5.d/S99linuxmce, just before the "exit 0" at the end of the file.

line is "cp /etc/asound.conf.ok /etc/asound.conf"

Note: if you try to play a video or song with the wrong configuration it won't play that media or other you try later even if you add the lines. You will have to restart, change the lines in asound.conf and then try to play whatever.

Continuing with this thread, I noticed that, everytime I power on or reboot the system the file /etc/asound.conf gets modified. It deletes the information I added following the old GT 220 wiki, being more specific, it deletes:
Code: [Select]
pcm.!hdmi {
        @args [ AES0 AES1 AES2 AES3 ]
        @args.AES0 {
                type integer
                # consumer, not-copyright, emphasis-none, mode=0
                default 0x04
        }
        @args.AES1 {
                type integer
                # original, PCM coder
                default 0x82
        }
        @args.AES2 {
                type integer
                # source and channel
                default 0x00
        }
        @args.AES3 {
                type integer
                # fs=48000Hz, clock accuracy=1000ppm
                default 0x02
        }
        type hooks
        slave.pcm {
                type hw
                card 1
                device 7
        }
        hooks.0 {
                type ctl_elems
                hook_args [
                {
                        name "IEC958 Playback Default"
                        lock true
                        preserve true
                        value [ $AES0 $AES1 $AES2 $AES3 ]
                }
                {
                        name "IEC958 Playback Switch"
                        lock true
                        preserve true
                        value true
                }
                ]
        }
}

Is there a configuration script I could modify so it doesn't change this?
I made a copy of the correct file on /etc/asound.conf.ok, so maybe just adding a "cp /etc/asound.conf.ok /etc/asound.conf" to the servers orbiter bootup script would be enough.
Can someone tell me what script file I would need to put my hands on?

I checked some logs and info on the terminal window and it seems that HDMI audio is not working.

Ran installation again with VGA & analog and it started correctly, audio and video worked, the I followed the steps on http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:iLUwGbZAS9wJ:wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/NVidia_GT220_HDMI_sound+linuxmce+gt220&cd=1&hl=es&ct=clnk&gl=es&source=www.google.es to try to use the audio on the HDMI port on the GT220 (I use google's cache because that wiki page was modified yesterday), but I had the same error as if I was installing directly with the HDMI port

I belive that since my Motherboard has a snd-hda-intel soundcard integrated, even if I do the patching in that wiki page, I don't get sound (The wiki warned about some unexpected results).

Now the wiki says that GT220 audio is supported on ALSA 1.0.22 and giving a passthought in Xine. http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/NVidia_GT220_HDMI_sound

My alsamixer says 1.0.18, so I guess I must update. do you know an easy and effective way to do it? or should I go to source?

Thank you in advance.

I've checked and I found that /home/coredump has just one folder, named "1". Also, that "1" folder is empty.

Thanks for your help.

Installation issues / Video files not playing
« on: February 22, 2011, 09:51:28 am »
Hi all,

I was using an old snapshot (dated last summer) on my system and everything was ok.

Last weekend I decided to update to a newer one, I have tried several ones (23748, 23739, 23579 and 23568) and I have the same problem in all of them, when getting to the Linuxmce setup it doesn't appear Sarah's videos. I finish the install and if I try to play any video file, it flashes a blank screen and returns to the UI.

On the AVWizard I have tried 1080p and 720p via HDMI (blank screen appears at setup and when I press 3, video shows up), HDMI sound.

My video card is a GT220.

Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

BTW pluto-xine-* seems to be installed correctly, but to be sure, I forced a reinstall, but nothing changes.

Users / Re: X10 controller for 220V voltage in Europe?
« on: December 20, 2010, 01:04:42 pm »
Hi! I use a CM11A to control via PC. a TM 13 for wireless controlling & a easy icon 10 (these two mainly for x10 programming purposes).

The appliances are these http://x10-hk.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_30&products_id=56 since I don't use dimming.

Also, since the x10 signal was a bit weak to some of the appliances, I installed this: http://x10-hk.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=21_32&products_id=75

Hope this helps.
