Same thing here. tty1 indicates that Orbiter generation was successful. Returning to the the X11 terminal the background is then black.

I've reproduced this using the online diskless install labeled beta2. I did the following, restarting between each step:

1.  Installed Kubuntu
2.  Updated all the packages while staying at 8.10
3.  Installed the latest Nvidia drivers available for my system through the restricted driver manager (180.11).

Could this have something to do with the Nvidia driver version or the point in which I installed it? It looks like the LMCE-customized xine binaries want their own vdapu file, which is why they are trying to overwrite that. I noticed while trying the Beta2 disc (which I haven't had a lot of luck with) that it Had 190 nvidia drivers.

Installation issues / Minimal headless core installation?
« on: December 06, 2009, 06:55:44 pm »
Hi,

The core server in my home runs Solaris (ZFS is gold), and I want to install LinuxMCE in a virtualized form so I can use its automation functionality without having to run an additional server. Is there any way to do a fairly bare install, skipping all the GUI-based installation steps, possibly from the command line (but not absolutely necessary)?

Developers / Source location changed?
« on: October 19, 2008, 09:42:14 pm »
Hello,

The Documentation I've been reading to set up the dev environment instructs to download the current source from http://svn.linuxmce.org/pluto/branches/charon-merge. However, this is not working. It could be a client issue on my part, but I have checked out the source from that location before without problems. The SVN browser on the svn site also doesn't list charon-merge in the branches folder. I have also tried downloading LinuxMCE-0710 instead since it does exist in the branches folder, but it also does not work. Nor does omitting "pluto/" from the repository listing. The error I get is the following:

svn: PROPFIND request failed on '/pluto/branches/charon-merge'
svn: PROPFIND of '/pluto/branches/charon-merge': 405 Method Not Allowed (http://svn.linuxmce.org)

Any ideas?
