Installation issues / Re: DLINK 3220G IP Camera HELP!
« on: April 16, 2008, 10:03:22 pm »

I found a the correct URL for motion to use.

You should use http://<CAM IP>/cgi-bin/video.jpg

This worked for me under motion.  I found this information at

OK, so I figured it out.

Well not really but I did get it working again.

I had to delete the diskless device image and also remove the device from the WebAdmin interface.  Once the image was rebuilt everything started working again.

Here are the steps in detail
1. Open WebAdmin and go to Wizards -> Devices -> Media Directors
2. Note the Device number assigned to your Media Director. (you will need this later)
3. Remove the Diskless Media Director from the list by clicking the "Delete" button
4. Open a shell and remove the diskless image from /usr/pluto/diskless/<device number>.  So for my Media Director the device number was 47.  The command I used was "sudo rm -r -f /usr/pluto/diskless/47"
5. Restart Media Director and go through the entire setup again.

Seems like a work around but I could not figure out why non of the media would play.

If someone has a better way please let me know.

I have my media director booting off the network and everything seems to be OK.  However, when I try to play any of my music that is on the CORE is says "File Not Found /home/public/data/audio/Mile/Time of my life.mp3".  What am I doing wrong here?  I guess I'm not sure why the Media Director is trying to look on it's local drive for the music, shouldest the Media Director be looking at the network to get the music?  I'm sure this is something stupid that I did but I just can't figure it out.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Installation issues / CORE Data Replication

Has anyone played with replicating media files from one CORE to another offsite CORE?  We want to have our media files replicated between two different houses so that we have offsite Disaster Recovery.  I don't think LinuxMCE has any out of the box tools that can do this but I wanted to check.

I'm working with an investment company doing a POT (Proof of Technology) on the LinuxMCE platform for home automation.  The team has asked me to research the product and write a report on the good, bad and ugly.  One of my first concerns is UI modification, colors, graphics, etc.  Has anyone had any luck customizing the UI for MCE?

Installation issues / DLINK 3220G IP Camera HELP!
« on: March 24, 2008, 03:44:07 am »
I hope someone can help me out here.

I'm trying my best to get this D-Link 3220 to work with the Motion Wrapper driver in MCE.  So far I have been able to create the Generic Analog Camera device following the instructions @  However, this 3220 does not have a .jpg or .mjpg file under the filesystem.  I've ftped to the device and did not find anything that look like that.  The only files on there are .vspx.  I also noticed that I cannot view the html site from any other browser then IE because of this Active X control that it installs.  Does anyone have any suggestions?

Should I get a different Camera? If so what?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!
