Or go to 'advanced' 'kde desktop' then run terminal like that?  Bit easier, also to return to session just click on apps on the bottom.

(I think this is right description, I dont have it running at the moment)

Couldnt agree more !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A site / project like this needs two things, knowegable staff (tick) and a good wiki, for a project as this a big part of the wiki is compatability.... and no one is filling it in.

I hope people bump into this thread and see this...

Nope Ive balls-ed it up.

Created the page for the graphics card, put the cat at the top but the graphics card cat doesnt appear in the hardware, I will let you do the honours :s

Feels wierd writing a page for 5-6 words, but nothing to say really, works fantastic !

Am I being dense again or is there no cat for graphics adapters? I can see displays and TV cards but not graphics cards.

I have over a thousand movies in my library, and twice that in my CD collection that i have imported in, and I am able to very quickly find what i'm looking for.

Yes im a dumbass and i would feel bad if i didnt get some stick for this... however... I managed to completely forget entering a user/password when installing linuxmce.

Any advice or is it a reinstall?

I have it another thread but think thats in the wrong place so posting here.

+1 for folder layout instead of all files in one place.

Sorry thom but i disagree completely, its not an edge its usability, ever wanted to watch something but you dont know what? nothing beats going through folders just browsing, not searching for a string.  Also I have a few gig of films, many films come as two parts, so straight off the film list is doubled, which means loads of scrolling when just looking, and on an older PC it doesnt scroll very well.

Yes please, much needed, many many many vids here, and putting all files in one folder doesnt work well as all files are named different.  I would think most people arrange vids by folders over individually named etc.

- remember user selection i.e public or private folders

- while playing next button should play the next file in the same folder

Im stuck as a duck in muck, I just dont get it, how on earth are you meant to find a card and chip that works with Linux MCE.  Ubuntu forums has loads of instances where it works with ubuntu not kubuntu. 

Also very very few mentions of Svideo/Composite output, which as this is going to a TV is essential

Hi,
I know im going to get some sarcasm, and some links to the search page but I have searched for last two or three days now and cant find the answers, either because no one has asked them or I'm being stupid.

First:
Whats the deal with media center remote controls? I'm knew to them and their ways.  Do they all match a standard? how different are chipsets etc?  I ask because I want to setup Linux MCE (which btw looks amazing guys, im well excited and will be helping friends get them setup if this goes well) on a budget then get better parts over time.  The remote Im looking at is

TBH the first one to me is nicer as its slimmer.  I have looked for a HCL and can't find one that goes into much detail.  Is there any way to find the chipset from this info (i know its a long shot but sometimes people amaze me with little tricks).


Second
I know Nvidia are much more linux friendly, but I have an old ATI Radeon with mATX mobo and bits laying around which would be nice to use (as they are all free), if not its a new graphics card, which will be PCIe, which will need a new CPU, looking at £110 ish.
