Installation issues / Re: HDHomerun DVBT Australian version
« on: August 01, 2010, 08:48:28 am »
Thanks guys

I did a reinstall of linuxmce and everything is now up and running properly.

I think however the issue was caused by the HDHomerun obtaining a IP address from my ADSL model, and not from Linuxmce.

As soon as I plugged the HDHomerun into the network with the ADSL modem disconnected LinuxMCE picked it up straight away.

Thanks again.

Jamie

Thanks for your reply, I will keep investigating this.

Can you advise if you had to install any additional drivers to get this working or did it work out of the box.

Thanks

Jamie.

Installation issues / HDHomerun DVBT Australian version
« on: July 30, 2010, 09:18:01 am »
I have just purchased a HDHomerun DVBT Australian version.

I have installed and tuned channels into this with the software that came with the device for windows.

When I try to set this up in Mythtv I installed the tuners and assigned the channels to it that I already scanned with my DTV2000H, changing tuners in Mythtv using "Y" has some issues however I managed to open PIP and the HDHomerun does not receive a lock on the channels.

After this I removed my DVT2000H and all of the channels and started with Mythtv from scratch, add the HDHomerun both tuners configure the Video Sources and Input Connections scan for channels it appears that the HDHomerun receives a channel lock the tuner light flashes on in the front when the Locked is displayed at the top of Mythtv however upon completion of the scan Mythtv comes up with "No new channels found"

Has anyone had any success or possibly know what might be causing the issue, I also have Mythtv install on a FC 13 laptop and it has the same issue.

Thanks

Jamie

Ok after a lot of trying to get this card working satisfactory I have decided it is not worth the time, the card installs and is recognised however there is a problem with it getting a channel lock.

I would look at other options for now until this can be addressed, I assume the drivers are causing the issue.

Update on the DTV2000DS

I have successfully installed this card and had it working in Mythtv using the following guide after completing linuxmce install and rebooting the system.

http://ubuntu-stash.blogspot.com/2008/11/geniatech-t328b-dvb-t-usb-freeview.html

I am however having issues searching for all channels in my area only 3 channels are found, is there a way to adjust the settings in Myth to help with this.

Thanks

Jamie.

Hi Guys

I have just finished installing a new install of linuxmce 0810 B net install yesterday 03 July 2010.

I have successfully ran the mythtv-setup from the command line it is not an option in the computing section.

when I open mythtv from linuxmce I am presented with a grey screen, if I open mythtv from the command line I receive the following error.

Quote
dcerouter_1011380:/home/jamie# mythtv
The program 'mythtv' is currently not installed.  You can install it by typing:
apt-get install mythtv-frontend
bash: mythtv: command not found

Ok so I try installing it as suggested

Quote
dcerouter_1011380:/home/jamie# apt-get install mythtv-frontend
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
mythtv-frontend is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 6 not upgraded.

I am able to see the list of channels in the grey screen if I press the guide button down the LHS of the screen, however I cannot select a channel to watch and I cannot see the mythtv menu.

Any ideas as to what might be causing this.

Also is there a guide anywhere on how to create a xml file of the channels in my area for easy importing into linuxmce.

Thanks for any help.

Jamie.

Hi

I have just purchased a Leadtek WinFast DTV2000 DS
I have this card up and running on Kubuntu CD for 810 Beta after just installing Kubuntu without LinuxMCE.

I have the card tuning in channel in Caffeine however the codecs won't allow me to view the tv channels as yet, I am not concerned about this as I will be installing LinuxMCE.

The Guide I used to install the drivers is here

http://ubuntu-stash.blogspot.com/2008/11/geniatech-t328b-dvb-t-usb-freeview.html

This installs Af9015 USB drivers and appears to get the card up and running what confuses me though is the fact that it is a PCI card and shows up under lsusb.

Hopefully this will provide you the information you need to get this up and running in LinuxMCE, if you need more information let me know.

lsusb -vv output.

Thom

As I can't see many people donating to the fiire chief driver, I have purchased a 3102 remote, I would however still like to have the fiire chief running.

Could you direct me to the hidraw code for the 3101, if there was a libusb module for this it would be good as well, I won't claim to be able to do this however I will have a go if you point me in the right direction.

Thanks

Jamie.

The reason the symbolic link fails to be created is because the user mythtv is not on the sudoers list by default.

You can add mythtv to the list by editing the /etc/group file just add mythtv to the end of the "admin" group seperated by a comma
Example

admin:x:119:jamie,mythtv

Hope this helps simplifies things for people. The mythtv can be removed for the admin group once shepherd is installed if you wish.

Jamie.

Do I send payment with Paypal to your forum registered email address?

Can you advise on a couple of things, once this code is done will it be future proof on new releases or is this going to have to be done for each new release?

Can you advise how much your hourly rate is or point me to a link for this.

Or alternatively provide a link to the required work you have pointed out.

Thanks

Jamie.

Installation issues / kdesudo command not found
« on: November 29, 2009, 09:32:58 am »
Hi guys

I have downloaded and attempted to install 0810 beta DVD install, I boot the disc and select Linuxmce install, this works fine and installs Kubuntu with the linuxmce install icon on the desktop once logged in.

When I click the linuxmce install icon I get some text flash past in a black window and a message box that pops up and says kdesudo Command Not Found.

Any ideas on how I fix this and sorry if this has been covered I couldn't find it on here.

Thanks

Jamie.
