it would be nice if you guys actually #@($#@ stepped up and started writing DCE devices to do this stuff, so I'm not the only one doing it.

I have been lurking the forums for while now. It started of with a real feeling to start to use LinuxMCE. However now I mainly follow the forum to see Thom explode day after day .

I had the same problem and submitted a bug in mantis.
However it has been closed as "Cannot be reproduced"

So if you have any more info about the defect please re-open it and add a note. Maybe we can get this bug exterminated

Hia,

LMCE uses another ip zone. I believe 192.168.80.x  and since it is static you cannot acces it.
You can try to set one of the nic's to bridged. This way you will use the dhcp server from LMCE

I installed it several times under vmware now. It works perfectly.
Be sure to choose UI1.

You can put an entry in /etc/fstab to automatically mount at startup

Would be nice indeed if somebody would strip down the ubuntu install and add mce.

Only downside is that the fancy user interface doesn't work on VMWare. At least not on mine

Take a look at the wiki

If you want to add more storage you can map drives under those directories. For example, if you have another 2TB drive array that you want to use for both public music and your private movies, create 2 directories on that array, let's say: public_music and john_movies. Using a network mount, or a symlinc to a network mount, create a folder such as /home/public/data/music/my_2TB_nas that maps to public_music and /home/user_xxxx/data/movies/my_2TB_nas that maps to john_movies.

I am not a linux guru either but I saw this on the wiki.

Short to say create a directory on the windows share.
Make a network mount to that share in the directory structure explained below
