Users / Android Touch Orbiter - Locations view
« on: September 14, 2014, 06:30:34 pm »
I am running the touch orbiter on android 4.2.2 with 1024x600

The locations view does not show a complete list of my rooms.  The list gets cut off and the bottom part of my alphabetical listing is not displayed.  There is no way to scroll down to see the missing rooms.  Is there any way to get them all in the view?

I am playing around with a couple of these and I have gotten them working well as a motion sensor.

I have not been able to get the temperature, light-level, humidity sensors to provide any information.

From this post it seems that temperature and motion work, but not light level

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=11674.0

I placed the temperature sensor on my floor plan and I see the thermometer on my floor plan.  I can select it and it displays the name "temperature sensor", but it does not show what the current temperature is.

If I open the climate section of the web admin, and open the advanced page of the temperature sensor, "state" and "status" are blank...

In the advanced zwave page the device usually appears as a yellow dot, status = "ok" , awake = "No"

Users / Entertainment Areas without an MD
« on: August 25, 2014, 04:25:37 am »
This issue came up in another post I had

http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=13430.45

The inability to get media scenarios for entertainment areas that have not been configured with an MD.

If anyone is interested in helping me get this to work properly I'd be happy to assist in any way I can.

I have a fresh install of the latest 1404 dvd image with an entertainment area set up that has a TV, receiver, a cable box, and a dvd player.  No scenarios are generated, so it seems the issue still persists in 1404.  This exact setup worked perfectly with a 1204 install when I set it up using an MD, and then after setup removing the MD.

I can provide any logs, and perform any experiments anyone would like on this setup.  I can also provide remote access to this set up if anyone wants to help me investigate the issue and fix it.

Users / adding a qorbiter messed up my rooms
« on: August 22, 2014, 12:22:43 am »
I attempted to add my first qorbiter today and made quite a mess.  The first one I added was device 73. I thought perhaps the reason it wasn't looking good was something I did wrong in the setup, so I deleted it and created another which was device 77.  It was just as bad as the first.  The display on my android phone is not very nice at all.  Is there a better skin I should be using?

I now have two rooms in my room list which correspond to my home theater room.  These rooms are listed as 73 and 77, not by the name "home theater" which is what used to be in my room list.  "home theater" is now gone.  That is the room I assigned both of my qorbiters to.  I am attaching screenshots both of my android phone and of a web orbiter to illustrate.

Also noticeable in the android screenshots is that all of the rooms have a "0" after their name, with the exception of closet/storage (which shouldn't even show up in the list at all because I checked the "Don't show room on orbiters" box, it doesn't show up on the web orbiter room list as can be seen in the screenshots)

If anyone can help me get things back to the way they used to be it would be much appreciated.

I would very much like to use qorbiter, but the initial experience has not been good.  Navigating the room list is especially annoying because when I am trying to scroll up/down it winds up scrolling left/right.  It usually takes me a few touches at the screen to successfully get it to scroll up/down.  It would be nice if left/right scroll were not even possible in the room list....

Users / zwave network lockups/delays
« on: June 13, 2014, 12:56:34 am »
I've added a bunch of leviton zwave switches and sometimes when commands are sent, one of the switches does not respond immediatly.  There is a delay from anywhere between a couple seconds to a couple minutes.  During this time the rest of the zwave switches are unresponsive.  When the unresponsive switch eventually responds , the rest of the zwave commands that had been issues that weren't getting through all happen in rapid succession.

Anyone have experiences like this?  Any solutions?

If I control my zwave switches using orbiters the status (as shown in the advanced device page for the light, and on my floorplans) correctly updates

however if I use the light switches manually the status does not change, it does not appear that the zwave switches send status updates back to linuxmce... is that expected behavior?  Should linuxmce update the status when a light switch is operated manually?

Users / using a script to launch scenarios
« on: April 15, 2014, 10:02:35 am »
I'd like to be able to trigger my predefined lighting and media scenarios with external scripts

I've read a bit about /usr/pluto/bin/MessageSend

but I'm not sure if that is what I am looking for or if that can only be used to update  status rather than make the events happen

can anyone offer me any advice on how this is best accomplished?

Users / zwave dimmable light switches
« on: November 13, 2013, 05:12:45 am »
For some reason when I add a new zwave dimmable light switch, the orbiters only show on/off controls for the new switch instead of also showing the dimming controls (10% 30% 50% 70% 90%).  This has been happening to me with a fresh install of 1004.  Funny thing though, if I take the zwave usb stick from the existing install where the newly added dimmable light switches have on/off control, and plug it into a fresh 1004 install then all the dimmable light switches that I added on the previous installation show up and they all have their dimming controls on the orbiters.

I thought maybe I could workaround this by deleting the newly added switch and then letting linuxmce readd it for me (hopefully with the dimming controls), but that did not work.  It readded the switch, but still with only on/off controls.  The only way I have been able to get the dimming control into the orbiters is to take the zwave stick to a fresh install of linuxmce....

Users / gc100 and rs232 control
« on: October 29, 2013, 08:17:32 pm »
I am trying to control a yamaha YSP5100BL soundbar/receiver via rs232 with the gc100.  I have found the rs232 protocol sheet for the receiver on the yahama website.

I am running lmce1004.  The gc100 was autodetected and setup.  I am using the IR transmitters without an issue.  The serial port was created on the core as /dev/ttyS_38_0 and I have selected that in the receiver device data as the value of "COM Port on PC".

I went to the gc100 web admin and set up the serial port as described in the yahama protocol sheet:
baud rate: 9600
flow control: hardware
parity: no

The cable I am using to connect the gc100 serial port to the receiver serial port is described as a "DB9 RS232 Serial Null Modem Cable".  Perhaps the cable is my issue?

I initially chose the "Yahama RX Receivers RS232" as the "Group/Codeset", but it doesn't appear that those codes match up well with my receiver.  I have been attempting to replace the rs232 codes in the template with the ones in the protocol sheet I have.  I am not having any success with this though.  I have yet to successfully send any sort of command to the receiver.

Can anyone suggest what I should attempt next?

Is there any other information I can provide?
