Marketplace / Looking for Media Directors (like Z1, Z2, etc)
« on: March 17, 2011, 04:40:28 pm »
OK, im looking for a bundle solution of a diskless Thin Client to be use as a MD. I've looked www.lmcecompatible.com and i found the Z1 and Z2 MD solutions, wich are very good for me. However, seems to be those machines doesn't have a Video Capture device.

I need a bundle hardware solution to use as diskless MD, with HDMI output, no Hard Disk (we use PXEbooting) and a Video/audio capture interface to watch TV on each thin client.

If i find a good solution, i will request more units.

Regards,

Alejandro.

Users / How to get EasyCap USB 2.0 working???
« on: March 16, 2011, 04:49:33 pm »
Hello again,

I have connected my diskless MD to my TV and its working good with DVDs and video files (all them store at the core). But now i have bouth a EaseyCAP USB 2.0 "dongle" to watch TV (i connected the RCA cables of my TVBox to the EasyCap inputs) at the MD's USB port, but nothing happens :( .

I bought this device (very cheap) because there is a lot of of people saying its ok to use for Ubuntu. So i have found this tutorial on the interntet which i have followed, but without any results:

Quote
This is how I got it working on my Ubuntu 10.04:

1.- Download the driver from here, and extract the files.

2.- Run the following command at the terminal:
sudo apt-get install build-essential mplayer

3.- Next, go to the directory where you have extracted the tar file, and run the following command to install the driver:
sudo ./install.sh

4.- After the installation is over, check whether the kernel module was loaded successfully by issuing the following command:
lsmod | grep easycap

5.- Now plug in the USB device and check whether it has been detected, by issuing the following command:
After the installation is over, check whether the kernel module was loaded successfully by issuing the following command:
ls /dev/easy*
If everything went right, you should see something like this:
/dev/easycap0
/dev/easysnd1/

The results on my CORE machine were the following:
Code: [Select]

root@dcerouter:/media/disk/easycap# sudo ./install.sh

Im using the easycap_dc60.0.9.tar.gz  downloaded from Sourceforge. I dont know what to do now.... Please, my goal is to get the full Linux MCE System working on my house.

Thank you very much!!

Users / Cannot boot from PXE
« on: March 11, 2011, 02:10:26 am »
Hello friends,

I hope you can help me with this issue:

1.- Ive set the Diskless MD PC to boot from PXE. The HDD is out.

2.- Ive created the Image using the admin web interface at the Core. Appeared "finished setting up diskless Media Directors".

3.- I boot the MD PC (client), Appear "booting vmlinuz..." and all that stuff. The MD has its own IP adress and all seems to be ok, but the screens shows:

Begin: Running /scripts/nfs-premount...
Done.

4.- I wait for about 5 minutes (or more) and the screens shows "connect: connection timed out". So, a cannot boot the MD Diskless

Please hel me.. what can i do? i cant find and answer on forums, please, i want to donate to the project, but i need to know how to make it work. Thanks for your help.

Regards from Santiago de Chile. :)
