Installation issues / AV Wizard does not run - 10.04
« on: January 02, 2012, 11:26:29 pm »
I've just completed a fresh install of 10.04 and after I ran the install script and rebooted, the system went straight into LMCE with UI1 and never prompted for the AV Wizard.  I've tried the following with no joy:

- Hold shift key down during boot cycle - no joy
- Run command line to start AV wizard (/usr/pluto/bin/AVWizard_Run.sh) - no joy
- Edit /etc/pluto.conf to launch AV Wizard - no joy
- Edit /etc/pluto.conf to launch as first boot - no joy
- From the Advanced Menu, selected Audio and Video Wizard - no joy

Basically, I can't get the AV Wizard to run at all.  It never gives me an error, it just doesn't run.

Any thoughts before I blow it away and re-install??

Thanks!

Users / mysqld high cpu after rebuild
« on: December 04, 2011, 03:59:17 am »
I just rebuilt my core due to a motherboard failure, and now I notice mysqld is always running at 70% or better.  I've ran mysqlcheck/repair/optimize on all of the tables, but still no change.  Any ideas on what would be causing it to run so high?  This happens all the time, and it doesn't matter if I'm watching MythTV or not.  None of my MD's are even on and it still runs high.  MythTV is not running as well either.  It tends to crash a lot, or just have jittery video.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Installation issues / Hulu unable to find flash
« on: November 30, 2011, 04:05:00 am »
I recently had a mobo failure in my core, so I've done a clean rebuild of LMCE 8.10 using the final ISO.  When I install Hulu player on a media director and launch it, it pops up a box that says:

"Hulu Desktop could not locate the Flash plugin
If you already have it installed, please modify ~./huludesktop with the correct location of libflashplayer.so"

~./huludesktop has the following:
[display]
fullscreen = FALSE
width = 640
height = 480
pos_x = 0
pos_y = 0

[remote]
lirc_device = /tmp/hulu_lircd
lirc_remote_identifier = mceusb
lirc_release_suffix = _UP
lirc_repeat_threshold = 10
button_name_up = Up
button_name_down = Down
button_name_left = Left
button_name_right = Right
button_name_select = OK
button_name_menu = Home

[flash]
flash_location = /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/flashplugin-alternative.so

[screensaver]
suspend_script = (null)
resume_script = (null)

[version]
latest = (null)
eula_version = 1

If I edit the location to point to where libflashplayer.so is located, it still fails.  When I go back to ./huludesktop, the file has been restored to the original version and my changes are gone.

flashplugin-alternative.so does not exist anywhere on the MD.  All I have is flashplugin-nonfree and libflashplayer.so.  Before the crash, when I built an MD, I had to manually install Flashplayer 10.2 via dpkg, but that file is no longer available on the adobe website.

Where can I modify LMCE Hulu to point to the correct libflashplayer.so file?

Thanks

Users / apt-get update fails on radvd.conf line 2

I just did an apt-get update/upgrade on my 8.10 core to fix an issue I had, and it fails to complete the upgrade.  When I run it again, I get the following:

Users / Latest apt-get upgrade shows 530 files??
« on: October 28, 2011, 02:28:38 am »
I just did an apt-get update / upgrade earlier in the week, and ran it again tonight to see if anything else was available to fix an issue I'm having with my Gyration 4101 remote.  When I ran it tonight, it shows the following files are ready for update.  Is this for real?  I don't see anything on the forum indicating a large update is available..

Users / MythTV not working with Gyration Remote after update
« on: October 26, 2011, 04:49:52 am »
I performed an apt-get update / upgrade a few days ago, and since then my Gyration remote no longer works with MythTV.  I've checked the xorg.conf file and the configurations for the Gyration remote, and all looks correct, but the remote does not work correctly with MythTV anymore.  It still controls LMCE fine.  I see a thread talking about the MythTV plug-in having problems, but this update should've fixed that.  Any thoughts on why the remote stopped working?  It's the same problem on multiple MD's with multiple remotes.

Thanks,

Users / Small fonts issue after upgrade to latest 8.10 packages
« on: September 17, 2011, 03:06:24 pm »
After doing the apt-get update/upgrade for the latest 8.10 packages, I've lost the settings that set my dpi for my 40" LCD to larger fonts.  When I reboot, the 'Loading LinuxMCE' messages are all extremely small, and my desktop and web browser fonts unreadable.

The fix for this in the past was to edit /usr/pluto/bin/Start_X_Wrapper.sh and add -dpi 96 to the end of the xinit line.  Unfortunately, if I try that now, X doesn't start up.  The MD will display the start up commands such as stopping and starting Samba daemons, and then it just stays at a command prompt screen displaying messages, but X never starts.  I also tried to add a dpi command to xorg.conf under monitor (dpi  96 x 96), but I get the same results.  Seems X doesn't like the dpi setting anymore.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Users / UI2 Buttons - Can they be disabled?
« on: July 28, 2011, 02:08:45 am »
Is there a simple way to disable certain buttons on the UI?  For instance, I'd like to disable (or remove) the 'Setup Wizard' button on the Main UI Advanced menu tree since it is in a spot that is easily clicked when trying to click on the Advanced or Computing button.  I'd really like to just have the Advanced button have Computing, Advanced, and Power.  All of the other button functions are under the Advanced Sub-Menu page.  It sure would keep accidents from happening, such as the wife or kids clicking the wrong one and starting off an issue that I have get involved with.  I have the same issue with the Climate button since I will probably never use it, would like to use that space for things like Internet Radio bookmarks.  I figure the Climate button is a bit harder, but can the pop-up menus be customized?  I couldn't find anything on the webadmin or wiki about it.

Thanks,

Users / Can you set flags for events
« on: July 20, 2011, 03:45:50 am »
I'm trying to figure out a way to set a flag in the system for events to check status on.  I use X10 lighting devices, and it would be nice to be able to set a flag on events that I want to enable/disable on the fly.  For example, say it's raining and I have an event set to go off each night to water my garden.  I'd like to be able to press a button on my X10 remote to set a flag to disable the event from running.  When the event fires off, the first thing it does is check the flag for status.  If it's on, it won't run.  If it's off, it runs.  When I decide that I want to re-enable it, I just click the button again to clear the flag.  I'm not familiar with the inner workings of LMCE, and I don't know if this capability exists, but I'm assuming it does and I just don't know where to go find it, or what value to set in the event when I build it.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Installation issues / How do you upgrade w/o losing your settings?
« on: May 26, 2011, 01:48:16 am »
I've been tinkering with LMCE 8.10 for months now getting ready to use it for the home, but before I do, I want to try the latest snapshot on a fresh build.  Problem is, I don't want to lose the settings I've been creating for lighting, video, mythtv, etc.  Is there a way to back up my existing database and configs?  For one, I don't want to invest in the whole solution ($1500 worth of hardware by the time I'm done) until I know that if I lose my core pc, I can easily restore it later via a backup.  I've tried the backup and restore option within LMCE Webadmin, but that doesn't seem to do anything.  How do you guys move from one snapshot to another without losing your settings?  If LMCE doesn't have anything built in, can you tell me what directories to backup as well as how to backup the database?

Thanks,

Installation issues / Gyration Air Mouse Not Working
« on: May 06, 2011, 03:34:05 am »
I've purchased a Gyration Air Mouse (GYM1100NA) like the one in the Air Mouse wiki, but LMCE does not detect it as anything other than an ordinary 3-button mouse.  None of the 3 extra buttons are working for F6-F7-F8.  I've tried replacing the hid.ko file using instructions in the wiki, but still no joy.  I added the device (1812) to the Orbiter, but that didn't change anything.  I need those 3 buttons to work.  Otherwise, this whole project is a bust for me since the wife and kids will need the easy way to manipulate LMCE.

Does anyone else have this mouse working?  If so, can you throw me a bone?

Thanks

Users / Advanced Menu - Add Keyboard/Mouse Button
« on: April 27, 2011, 04:33:28 am »
I was looking on the Advanced Menu via the Orbiter UI, and I noticed there is a button called Add Keyboard/Mouse.  Clicking on it doesn't seem to do anything.  Anyone know what that button does or is supposed to do?

Thanks

Users / Bluetooth Keyboard - Auto-Connect?
« on: April 25, 2011, 04:46:28 am »
I have a mini bluetooth keyboard that I can manually pair by typing:

hidd --connect 98:9A:10:12:09:E8

However, I have to do this every time to make it work.  Once I turn the keyboard off, or reload the MD/Core, it has to be manually paired again.  LMCE detects the keyboard when I turn it on via plug and play, but wants to put it under one of the mobile phone categories (Symbian S60 v1/v2, Windows Mobile Smartphone, Windows Mobile Smartphone 2005, Java Mobile phone).  I've added the above command to my /etc/rc.local file, but that doesn't allow it to be auto-detected.  How do I get it added to the plug and play list so it can be automatically added each time it's turned on?  Any ideas?  I'm not a programmer, but if someone can point me in the right direction, I can usually hack together a solution.  Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks

Not sure if it's just me, but I installed the latest snapshot of 8.10 (23887) and everything seems to be ok except for the fact that the web admin page is missing the respond to events page.  The links still exist, but when I click on them, I get a blank white page.  Anyone else having this issue?   Any idea on how to fix it?  That's kind of a critical feature to have.  ;-)

Thanks!

Users / System Monitor Question
« on: February 13, 2011, 01:01:29 am »
I'm wondering if there is there any sort of system performance monitoring ability built into either the Orbiter or the Webadmin page?  Something other than SSH into the core to view system performance.  If so, can you tell me how to find it?  If not, can someone give me an idea of the level of effort to develop such a feature?  I'd like to view the core performance (cpu, memory, IO, etc) as well as the MD's if possible.  Sort of a total view of the system.  I'm not a Linux guru by any means, but can usually hack some stuff together if someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanks
