Users / Low Power NC
« on: November 06, 2021, 04:09:42 am »
Hi all,
I've been away from the project for some time, so please excuse my terminology or errors in understanding where things might be up to. But looking to jump back in with a small scale media focussed build based on a low power SBC based Core (maybe a lattepanda) with about 4 android tablet based MD using qOrbiter. The Core could be headless for my needs but interested in opinions  pitfalls and options that might be out there before I dive in warts and all.

Users / SIP Camera Options
« on: August 31, 2018, 03:53:25 am »
Hi all,
A somewhat strange request perhaps, but looking for ideas. I have quite a few Grandstream 3611IR Hd cameras configured using the advanced cameras template all running fine. These cameras can also act as SIP endpoints, and I have them all registered working fine with asterix. The question for options/help is can I get them configured so that I can initiate a call through the 'speak' button in the camera view of orbiter or something similiar to allow a voice call to that camera so that I can both see the camera and be able to talk to that camera. Currently it is quite cumbersome to initiate the call through the telecom scenes (difficult sometimes as not all orbiter types show all camera phones) then reload the camera etc.

Thanks in advance

Installation issues / No WAN on MD
« on: May 02, 2018, 01:18:29 am »
Hi guys,
I have a Asus eebox 1501 running nicely as an diskless MD but have discovered that this machine cannot access the internet either from KDE or via orbiter using Firefox. Unfortunately I cannot verify if this is a new issue or otherwise as only recently have I been looking at accessing external resources on this machine.

All other devices on the LMCE Lan have access and I'm running 14.04 fully updated both on MD and Core (Hybrid). Any suggestions on where to start would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Users / Analogue Door Phone
« on: October 09, 2017, 05:28:10 am »
Hi Guys,
I have inherited two new Helios 2n (non IP) doorphones which I am keen to have integrated as doorphones; one for the front and one on the back door using an ata. I have been reviewing the wiki http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Doorbell and see that there is a notation that using a phone registered to ext 994 cannot be verified. I am still waiting on the ata before I can test but am interested if anybody currently has a working doorphone setup like this running 14.04? Other than this issue, is there any limitation to having a secondary doorphone with a different ext?

Thanks all

Installation issues / Linuxmce as a secondary Z-Wave controller
« on: August 08, 2017, 08:29:44 am »
Hi all,
I am attempting to configure my core as a secondary controller to my Vera 3 z-wave controller. Currently my Vera 3 system is stable and functional and currently consists of lighting control but will shortly be a couple of door locks. My preferance is to maintain the Vera 3 as the primary for the time being given its stability, door lock compatibility, geofencing and Alexa integration.

I am using an Aeonlabs S2 usb inclusion controller in my core to bridge the controllers.

So far i have tried to initiate suc/sis mode following wiki instructions with no luck and trasferring the Vera 3 configuration to the S2 controller and initiate download with both Sarah and diretly through webadmin.

I would like to get to a similiar setup as JaseP and have followed his steps identified in several alebit older forum posts. Is there any active users who are using this same setup that could assist?

Thanks

Users / New Build - questions on virtualized approach
« on: March 27, 2017, 12:26:57 pm »
Hi all,
After spending far too much time and effort chasing support from Dianemo and sadly ending up with no further contact and no system, I am Looking to build a new Linuxmce system and get back into it. I have a new replacement system and considering virtualizing the core and two mds. The hardware, bios and cpu support vt-d so running proxmox and with a couple of gpu I am hoping to passthrough a card for each md and distribute via hdmi matrix.

Thanks to user Deepb for the inspiration and wiki entry.

I have zwave lighting devices and will be looking to utilize my aeon labs usb controller and usb sound card for squeezeslaves and a Hd homerun for broadcast tv. So other than working my way through proxmox setup and virtualize networking and pxe boot for mds in vm, are there any immediate pitfalls for this approach that other experienced users can advise?

I am also keen to setup remote access, qorbiter, a couple of rpi md and better tv and movie tagging with linuxmce. Can anybody provide a quick status update on how these aspects are / are not implemented?

Thanks for the help in advance guys.

Installation issues / Adding auto tagged to Dianemo
« on: September 01, 2013, 11:56:51 am »
Hi all,
I am wondering if someone can give me some help.

There is an earlier post suggesting that lmce auto tagger will work with Dianemo. I am running 12.04 and would like to make using tv shows easier via orbiter in Dianemo with episode info cover art etc. I have been using xbmc for tv show management on dianemo share but really want it all to be integrated through orbiter so am looking for some help installing the auto tagger package.

Alternatively if there are users controlling and using xbmc clients through Dianemo how are you using them ie through Upnp etc. I have tried the upnp approach and generally find it unintuitive.

Thanks everyone

Installation issues / Squeezeslaves on Core (Dianemo S)
« on: April 01, 2013, 10:15:59 am »
Hi everyone,
I am setting up additional rooms with audio and have been attempting to setup new Squeezeslaves following the directions on the Dianemo S wiki page using some usb sound cards similar to the startac 7.1. I have previously been able to setup an iPad running iPeng and also easily setup a headless softsqueeze player on a windows pc both work very nicely. However, I cannot get the squeezeslaves to be recognised on LMS, and therefore play. I think it is a mac addressing issue (from looking at the errors in the log for the slim server streamer), but as far as I can tell this shouldn't be the case. Each new slave has a mac that is unique and the squeezeslave and player have the same details. I have a single Slim Server streamer which is working for the iPad and the soft squeeze.

Any help in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks

Installation issues / Dianemo S - configuring cisco7970
« on: June 14, 2012, 01:30:27 pm »
Hi Andrew, I am trying to configure two cisco7970 phones with no luck. The wiki instructions deal mostly with configuration under LMCE with plug and play. Are there additional manual configurations required, or are there other  changes under DIANEMO S preventing these from working. Cheers

Users / Anyone using or tried - NeatX, FreeX, NoMachine or similiar?
« on: October 08, 2011, 12:54:29 pm »
Hi All,
I am looking at options for remote access desktop GUI sessions from my Core to have remote access to my desktop for file sharing, access to programs etc. I have chosen to look at these options rather than VNC to allow multiple users and multiple sessions and also not disrupt any usage on the Hybrid. Its secure and clients are available for windoze, Mac and linux. So the question is has anyone, tried or have running a similar setup? Having not had a lot of experience with linux, are there any possible caveats I should be looking for with interoperability with Linuxmce (I am running Dianemo s10.10 at present)? Any comments, suggestions and they like are more than appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Garath

Users / Sound Card Options
« on: June 16, 2011, 11:56:58 am »
Hi guys, I am probably missing a simple option here but any advice would be great. I decided to add an Asus 1gb ENGT220 graphics card to my Dianemo 710 system and utlise it as the main MD in the living room. The problem I encountered is that I wasn't able to use HDMI audio after rerunning the audio/video setup. Checking the wiki it seems this is an issue with my MB according to this http://wiki2.linuxmce.org/index.php/NVidia_GT220_HDMI_sound (although i think the  Asus P7M-F WS should read P7F-M instead??) So although I have great video, no sound. Easiest thing would be to use the pci sound card, except I had to remove this as the heatsink from the card blocks the adjacent PCI slot! I want to be able to use at least 5.1 audio so digital output is essential, anybody had any experience with decent usb or other sound cards which might fit the bill?

Cheers

Installation issues / Kworld T399u and DHCP
« on: August 11, 2010, 05:23:50 pm »
Greetings all  :)

This is my first post so please...be kind. After much lurking, reading and investigation I have migrated from windoze to LMCE after finding, like many, that win MCE isnt cutting it. After multiple installations I seem to have a stable, albeit with niggling problems-fighting with DHCP, beta install (snapshot 23148).

However, even with the help of the wiki and debs from totallymaxed i cannot seem to get my Kworld T399u tuners recognised. I have followed the wiki page

Once i had Kubuntu installed i tried installing the debs but I had an error and was unable to install the v4l firmware (presumably due to the changes Mandingo has been working on with PnP?-i am unsure) but as per but the wiki I continued and the v4l modules successfully built and installed. The cards were not detected. As per the wiki advice i copied the latest firmware file as recommended, rebooted and initialised the linuxmce install from kde. No apparent issues on install and i successfully booted and went through av wizard-cards did not show. I have a stable and functional base but don’t seem to be able to get LMCE to detect the cards. Being the complete linux newb that I am, i am not sure where to start looking to find a solution, especially as it seems that it should have worked.

My second issue is just as annoyingly simple i am sure. The modem for my adsl 2+ connection is an isp provided router/modem tpllink TD8840. Again I have followed the wiki and all advice for a dual nic standard setup. eth0 is connected to 'external' network ie modem router (with DHCP) and given 192.168.1.102 IP second eth1 (supported OTB asus GB PCI NIC) connected to a seperate dlink 8port GB switch. From what I can understand the setup seems and is configured as it should be; LMCE detects my other compluters on interna network etc and assigns 192.168.80.XX IP addresses. However there is no internet connection for these devices. I am not looking for any unsupported setup, simply to let LMCE to its job, i must be missing something...Disabling DHCP on router modem has caused headaches

Motherboard is an Asus m4n78-Pro with 2gb ram 320gb system drive, onboard gig NIC and asus supported pci nic. I also have a haupaugge pvr mce500 card which I plan to use (at a later date) for capture of a sat tv box.

I am learning quickly, but any help or a pointer in the right direction would be appreciated

TIA
Garath
