Users / HDCP + LinuxMCE

Hello All,

I have been doing some research and would like to get a feel for if the below is possible and what would need to happen to achieve this.

After looking at different threads and features I came up with a solution to watch and capture Blu-Ray HDCP content on linux without needing HDCP support on the linux system. Here is how.

1: Take the HDCP (HDMI) source and connect it to the HDFury2 (
2: Take the component HDFury2 Output and HDFury2 SPDIF Output and connect it to the Hauppage HD-PVR (
3: Take the Hauppage HD-PVR and connect to the PC.
4: Configure LinuxMCE to use the HD-PVR. (This will need driver support and VDPAU which I am reading is in the works. Once driver support and VDPAU support is setup this should work like it should. Correct me if I am wrong.)

With this setup you wont get full 1080p as the HD-PVR will not support it. If there is another capture device that will support 1080p please let me know as this would be even better :). Please correct any information I posted here and please provide any comments to the above. Thank you for your time and have a great day!!!

Users / Playstation 3 through LinuxMCE
« on: August 01, 2009, 06:40:58 am »
Hello All,

I am new to LinuxMCE (you can probably tell by the question I am about to ask.) and would like to ask a question.

Has anyone had the idea to have a Playstation 3 hooked up to the LinuxMCE as an input device (not a media director). Where you would be able to play games on a different TV as long as you are able to have the controller reach the distance. I understand their might be lantancy with this but just thought I would ask the question to see if it might be possible.

I am also look at it to play Blu-ray DVD's and would like to know if that is possible as of yet or we are still waiting on hardware driver support. Thank you for your time and have a great day!
