Installation issues / Airplay and HDMI Sound - 8.10
« on: October 17, 2011, 06:59:55 pm »
Hi There

Can someone verify something for me?

After battling with a Asus EN210 1GB card I finally got it working with ALSA 1.0.24 and with  "options snd-hda-intel enable_msi=0 probe_mask=0xfff2" in the /etc/modprobe.d/nvidia-hdmi.conf.

Now if I use Airplay and disconnect it creates a "AirPlay_Audio_P <defunct>" process which locks the sound device and I can't use any sound until I kill one of the "AirPlay_Audio_P" processes.

It always creates these "AirPlay_Audio_P <defunct>" processes, but on analogue it still works.

Can anyone verify if this is just my hardware, or if it is in fact Airplay and HDMI issue?

Installation issues / Back to the Basics
« on: June 07, 2011, 07:10:01 am »
Hi Guys

I was hosting a party this weekend and found out the hard way that the LMCE basics are not working.

1. Tried to play some old music videos (avi) across the house and found that when you try and use the floor plan on those files, they only play properly on the MD where you start it from, on the other MDs' it staggers. Those where some really old AVIs', but never the less would play fine on any ONE MD but badly accross multiple MDs'

2. I added a playlist with the newer AVIs' and .mpg files and the staggering was gone but the media was completely out of sink. If you then sink them it goes out of sink when the next track/video starts (music files or video files).

3. Workaround for the party was to start the playlists from the core and go to the FloorPlan and add the MDs'. Then the MDs' are in sink but the Core/Hybrid is about 3-5 sec behind. This is fine because my core is in the garage, but what if it where a hybrid?

4. What would I do if my Core was actually a just Core with no sound card or MD runnuing?, then I would not be able to start the media on the core so as to sink the MDs'

5. I was always under the impression that when you go to the FloorPlan it was always streamed from the Core, it seems that I was wrong.

6. I also booted my old core to test and it behaves exactly the same.

Is anyone else aware of this?
Is this how it has always been or am I doing something wrong?

Hi All

I know 10.04 is not yet supported but just FYI, the latest updates breaks the DCERouter with the following error:

"symbol lookup error: ./ undefined symbol: _ZN12nsJobHandler10JobHandlerC1Ev"

Installation issues / MPlayer and m2ts problems
« on: October 22, 2010, 05:46:34 pm »
Hi guys

I don't know if any of you have had this issue

If you rename and mp4 file to m2ts so that it uses mplayer so you can get the audio, when it gets to the end of the file mplayer does not close and therefore when you start something else that uses Xine you either get sound and no video or a blank screen. It takes a bit of playing around (starting and stopping a few files before it sorts itself out.

This was happening on the previous install and a fresh install from snapshot LinuxMCE-8.10-23327-i386.iso

Installation issues / Volume Control in other rooms
« on: October 04, 2010, 10:15:51 pm »
Hi All

I have a question on the volume control when viewing a shared PVR Decoder in another room.

I have a Core-Hybrid in my TV Room, It is connected to a LG LCD via HDMI and to a PVR Sat Decoder via Composite through a PVR150 CARD. The Decoder  is also connected to the LG via HDMI.

In the Bedroom I have a MD also connected to a LG LCD via HDMI.

When viewing the PVR decoder from the bedroom the volume in the bedroom is not adjustable.
If I tail the DCEROUTER log it is trying to increase the volume in the TV room on the PVR Sat Decoder and not in the bedroom on the LG. (A bit pointless)
The only way to control the volume in the bedroom is to go to the floor plan select the bedroom and adjust the volume there.

Also if a use an wireless orbiter and not a MCE remote in the bedroom, the buttons on screen are not in the right place and there are NO volume buttons at all.

Do I need to set something elsewhere to tell it to adjust volume in the room playing the media?

Its a bit strange that when viewing any other media it works fine but not when viewing a shared PVR/Sat decoder.

Installation issues / Snapshot 23259
« on: August 27, 2010, 06:50:03 pm »
This snapshot installs very cleanly

A few issues with the last couple of snapshots including this one.

1. Zaptel modules do not get installed and once manually installed needs to be added to "/etc/modules"
2. Asterisk scripts now almost perfect except for the permissions thing. we need to add:

AMPASTERISKUSER=www-data and AMPASTERISKGROUP=asterisk to the /etc/amportal file.

AND Change the line in

`chown asterisk.asterisk /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/* /etc/asterisk/*`;

`chown asterisk.asterisk /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/* /etc/asterisk/*`;
`chown www-data.asterisk /usr/share/asterisk/agi-bin/*`;

we need to remove sip.conf, iax.conf and extensions.conf from /etc/asterisk folder.

unless someone has another way around it.

Hi All

Installed the latest snapshot (LinuxMCE-8.10-23257-i386.iso), and have had a few issues.

(1) ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table 'mythconverg.storagegroup' doesn't exist
     ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table 'mythconverg.settings' doesn't exist
     ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table 'mythconverg.settings' doesn't exist
     ERROR 1146 (42S02) at line 1: Table 'mythconverg.settings' doesn't exist
     DBD::mysql::st execute failed: Table 'mythconverg.storagegroup' doesn't exist at /usr/pluto/bin/ line 26

(2) Zaptel Modules not automatically installed (no speak in house)

(3) No Myth-Setup under Computing - Probably directly related to error (1)

Installation issues / Logitech MX Air
« on: July 23, 2010, 09:28:01 pm »
Hi there

I bought a Logitech MX Air mouse a few days ago. LMCE 810 detects and installs it but the Back button "F7" does not work. I have tested with xev and its the correct button but nothing happens when you press it.

Any ideas??

Installation issues / Asterisk and Security
« on: May 07, 2010, 05:04:22 pm »
Hi there, I have just re-installed LinuxMCE 810 twice to verify my problems.

The first problem is already listed in a ticket with regards to extension 200 and the password, The next issue I have is the IVR, after correcting extension 200's password. the IVR answers just fine but does not behave according to the voice prompts, Whatever you dial it rings all extensions.

The Extension names are not listed by the IVR, it just says "to talk to "blank" dial 1, to talk to "blank" dial 2".

The next very annoying thing is the Motion Wrapper, starts perfectly when you restart the Core, but if you just do a “Quick Reload” or “Regen”, it fails to start. I'm not quite sure if it’s a timing issue or not.

Like I said I have installed twice in 2 days with the same problems.

Any direction would be great

Users / Stream Live TV throughout the home
« on: October 12, 2009, 07:03:33 pm »
Is there a way to share a pvr card with several MDs' at the same time, without using the floor plan?
The problem with the floor plan is if you switch one off or one room decides to watch something else it switches them all off.

The other problem is if you try to watch tv and someone is already watching it just gives you a strange failed error, it does not inform you that someone is busy watching and if you would like you can watch an inline recording.

I want to be able to stream live TV throughout my home, is the possible and if it is what hardware would I need????

Hi there

Has anybody got the UI1 Mute button working when playing a video, or is everybody elses working but mine? I have a touchscreen that is works very well but the mute button does not work. I have tried a remote windows orbiter but it's has the same issue, I changed another MD to run UI1 and used a mouse, but still no mute.

Installation issues / GE Interlogix Interface
« on: March 20, 2009, 04:22:20 pm »
I hope somebody can help, I have been trying to get a GE Interlogix Interface working for about 3 weeks now and just can't win.

I am getting the following in "/var/log/pluto/LaunchManager.log"
"Starting device 63 GE Interlogix <0xb68388d0>
Not starting device 63 GE Interlogix -  binary is not found, probably it is in the middle of installation <0xb68388d0>"

It is a NX6 with a NX584 Home automation board setup the same as the "Caddx NX-8E" wiki but attached to the serial port on the core I have added the Com port, Flow Control and Baud Rate to the GE Interlogix template, but it never sends any data down the serial port.

I know everybody is very busy with 810 now, but if someone can point me in the right direction I would really appreciate it.
