Users / Low Disk Space Warning
« on: March 02, 2009, 12:35:03 pm »
Hi,

I have a very simple one machine Linux MCE setup. The single hard drive is 160GB and is pretty close to full. But, I don't care. I have all my music and video on it, and am happy.

However, I keep getting "Low on Disk Space" warnings coming up on the TV screen (and on my Nokia orbiter). This is especially annoying when I am watching a video because it places the warning pretty much full screen over the top of the video (which keeps playing). I click on OK on the orbiter (nokia tablet) which clears the message on there, but the only way to remove it from the TV screen is to get the mouse connected to the media director and click on it.

Ideally, I would not have a mouse connected to the media director directly, as I use the nokia as the orbiter.

Surely there is a way to disable this most windoze like warning message?
also, is there a way to have a media director without an orbiter as part of it?

Cheers in advance.

Users / Adding tags to video files
« on: February 19, 2009, 12:12:17 pm »
Hi, This may not strictly be a Linux MCE question, but...

I have loads of videos (mostly AVI files). I would like add tags to them for Linux MCE to recognise. Is there a tool out there which I can script to add tags based on directory structures (my files are in program/season/episode.avi type format, so it would be easy to add a tag based on that). I did this to my music because it was converted without tags.

Many Thanks

Users / Broken MCE. upgraded some packages
« on: February 12, 2009, 04:50:23 pm »

I stupidly did an apt-get -f install on my MCE box, which I think, either up or downgraded a couple of packages like xine_XXX. Not surprisingly my Core/Hybrid no longer works! The symptoms are:

The hybrid boots up fine. The launch manager starts and everything seems fine. it says "starting orbiter" and that is that. It seems to still be responding, and I can connect my remote orbiter and browse media, however, nothing plays when I select it (nor surprising), and the on-screen orbiter never starts!

I'd like to try re-installing some of the packages which LinuxMCE installs (is it correct that the versions of things like xine are VERY important to MCE working??)

I want to try and avoid a full re-install (for now!).
Thanks in advance
