Installation issues / garbled viedo in MCE Wizard

I have installed linuxMCE i386 in both cd and dvd installs. Both times, under all versions of the UI (tried all 3) when the setup wizard loads the video is all messed up. lots of very light lines in pink, light blue, and yellow. I am NEW to linux so if this has been solved or is an easy fix please forgive me. I have previously installed linuxmce on a different motherboard, but i decided it was too weak to handle it and scratched it for this new mobo. On the old mobo i was able to see the video athough it was choppy from being processed so slow.
I tried posting this with a screenshot, but it wont allow me so i'll try to post a link to the image later from my windows system.
Second smaller question: What are the pros and cons of installing the 32 bit over the 64 bit versions?
Third small question: What is the differences between the DVD and DL DVD installs? Besides the DL disk having more data on it...

Intel d102ggc2 rev 1.02
Onboard Radeon X300 based graphics
Intel Celeron D 3.2Ghz cpu
1GB Crucial Ballistix Tracer DDR-2 800Mhz
80Gb IDE Hard drive
