Users / reset micasavede z-stick (Aeon Labs ZSFS100-US)
« on: April 05, 2014, 11:16:09 pm »
Does anyone know how I can reset the z-stick to factory defaults? I searched on the manufacturers site but all I could find said I had to use the host software to reset it.

http://www.smarthome-products.com/productspecs/AeonLabZ-StickS2.pdf

I used to have 2 zwave devices on my network but they got danaged and I no longer have them and don't know how to remove them without having the devices.
When I plug the z-wave dongle on my core I see a message saying devices failed to start and I am guessing it is related to the devices on the dongle I no longer have.

Thanks

Installation issues / [Solved] No graphics on hdmi
« on: March 30, 2014, 05:34:41 pm »
Hi guys
I installed the 3-25 snapshot last night while connected to vga. While in the A/V Wizard I selected HDMI for both video and audio with UI2. The problem I am having is that if I boot using HDMI, the PC boots to a terminal requesting DCERouter Login, ig I boot using VGA,the system boots up as it should but I get no sould.

Has anyone else experienced this?
How can I invoke the A/V wizard again so I can test different settings? I have an NVIDIA card so I was thinking it would be compatible but that is just a guess.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Users / Insteon IP camera
« on: March 30, 2014, 03:47:04 am »
I just purchased 2 Insteon 75790 IP cameras and am looking for suggestions as to what the best way to control them might be. I really didn't think about it when I ordered them and now that I am trying to install them I am not sure what the best way would be.
Basically these are wired or wireless (I would use Wired with POE), use DHCP or static IP and are accessible through a web browser. Features are 300 degreePan and 120 degree tilt, motion sensor and IR LEDs, also have 2 way audio allowing you to listen to audio but also allows you to remotely speak through it.

Ideas/suggestions?
Would I need to give up on any of these features? would I need to have an insteon controller of some sort?

Thanks

Users / LG G2 Google TV with magic qwerty remote
« on: August 28, 2013, 06:29:31 pm »

I was wondering if anyone is using this tv with their Linuxmce system and how it is setup.
I have this tv which comes with a qwerty remote/keyboard that I would love to be able to use with lmce because of the pointer (similar to gyration remotes) and the keyboard in the back as well as voice control and wanted to see if anyone else has this tv and how they are using it with their system.

Installation issues / Best download location
« on: August 25, 2013, 12:43:47 am »
is http://linuxmce.iptp.org/snapshots/ the best place to get the latest builds of lmce? I have downloaded it twice, burnt to a DVD at different speeds but half way thru the install it fails saying my that either the image I am using is bad or my hard drive is faulty (can't remember the exact verbiage). I have tried it on two different hard drives, 2 different PCs, and 2 different dvds burnt at low speeds.

Thanks

Users / Thermostat selection
« on: January 01, 2012, 11:25:07 pm »
Does anyone have any comments about the Honeywell zwave thermostat on the following link?
http://m.lowes.com/mt/www.lowes.com/pd_370567-74493-YTH8320ZW1007_?PL=1&productId=3501124

I am replacing my ac/heat pump system and would like to go ahead and install a zwave thermostat to incorporate to my linuxmce installation.

By looking at the posts I can't find where anyone has used this device. It the wayne dalton thermostat listed appears to have been discontinued so in looking for a replacement I came across the link above.
Any comments or recommendations?

Thanks

Users / Screen Saver?
« on: December 16, 2010, 04:21:49 pm »
I installed the latest snapshot last week and now when watching a movie I've noticed that every x amount of minutes the screen goes black. All I have to do is move the mouse and it goes back to the video. I didn't have this problem on earlier versions and I am not sure what to do to fix it. It almost appears as if a screensaver kicks in after so many minutes but the screen just goes black until I move the mouse.

Has anyone experienced this? Any ideas on what I need to do to fix it?

Thanks in advance.

Users / DHCP not working
« on: December 12, 2010, 05:29:53 pm »
I just installed the from the latest snapshot. My system has 2 network cards, one connected to my home router and the other one connected to a switch.
I get internet on the system so I know the one connected to the home router is working properly.
If I look under the advanced tab on the main screen, and under advanced again I see the following:

IP addresses: router=127.0.0.1; Internal=192.168.80.1 (eth0:1); external=192.168.1.51 dhcp (eth0)

The problem I am having is that if I connect my laptop to the switch I don't get an IP address from my core and if I give that laptop a static IP address such as 192.168.80.200 with a 255.255.255.0 mask I can't ping the core either. The system does recognize both network cards but for some reason I still don't get DHCP or can ping 192.168.80.1

Any ideas anyone? I am not very knowledgeable in Linux so I am kind of lost as to what to check for.

Thanks in advance

Users / LinuxMCE snapshots
« on: July 23, 2010, 11:26:49 am »
hey guys I am trying to find out if the snapshots at http://linuxmce.iptp.org/snapshots/ are a complete DVD install or what exactly they are.
I installed the version I downloaded from linuxtracker.org but I don't think what's there is the latest. I haven't updated it for quite some time and now I am having issues with the apt-get and apt-upgrade. I was wanting to get werb orbiter 2.0 working and and after trying the fixes I saw on the forums I still can't apt-update so I decided to do a full install with whatever is the latest build. Would I be able to do that with the snapshot?

Thanks

Installation issues / combination of x-10 and Z-wave
« on: March 21, 2010, 09:14:02 pm »
I just did an install of the latest build (downloaded from linuxtracker on Friday), once the installer finished, I added a micasaverde zwave controller which had my living room light switch added to it. The system detected it, I chose ceiling light for the type and added it to the living room. Now on data grid, I can go to lights and I see a on and off buttons and it works great. The problem happens when I installed a CM11A with a USB to serial adapter with a device on the same room as the zwave. I followed the instructions on the wiki and added the CM11A, then created a child device for a floor lamp with address A2. From the device tree, I can send a message to both the zwave and the x10 lamp and they both work but from the data grid now neither one of them works. I tink the problem is that both have the same button assign to them, I am saying this because when I click on the on button, it appears that nothing happens, however, I can click on flootplan on the data grid, lights, floorplan and I can see both devices listed there and both say on, if I click on the off button and go back to the floorplan, now both will say off, however neither one of them is actually turning on or off.
I am not sure if missed something when creating the x10 device to create its own buttons.

Any ideas?

Installation issues / Cisco 7960 IP phone issues
« on: January 10, 2010, 01:09:45 am »
I successfully moved from 7.10 to 8.10Beta2 and was taking things a little further than I did with 7.10 by installing Ip phones ( I didn't have the patience to get this done on 7.10).
I installed a Grandstream HT286 with an analog phone connected to it. The system recognized it right away and configured everything for me. It assigned me extension 201, I made a call to 200 and was able to answer it. I then callled from 200 to 201 successfully. So far so good. I then decided to attempt to install a Cisco 7960 I had laying around, made the changes on the MAC address range on the web admin site and the system recognized it and asked me if I wanted to use it and what room, after that I did a quick router reboot and restarted the phone. The phone is now showing extension 202 but when I attempt to call 200 or 201 it doesn't connect. I then tried calling from 200 to 202 and the call is dropped with a message saying no route to destination.
Did I forget to do something? I feel like I am half way there which feels good but at the same time is irritating since I have not accomplished this task.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Users / adding z-wave devices
« on: May 14, 2009, 01:01:07 am »
I just added a MCV z-wave stick, a intermatic HA06 and a HomePro ZIR000 PIR
The MCV was detected automatically and added as an interface under Linuxmce. I added the other 2 devices to the MCV stick and plugged it. Now all 3 devices are listed under interfaces. The MCV stick is controlled by the core and the other 2 devices show as controlled by zwave.

Now here is my question. I thought that interfaces would be the devices that linuxmce uses to talk to other devices and light switches etc are devices controlled by an interface.
So if I go to wizard, devices interfaces I would see the MCV stick and if I go to wizard, devices lights I would see the HA06.

Did I do something wrong since all of them are showing as interfaces?

Users / X-10 mini transceiver TM751
« on: May 12, 2009, 09:45:29 pm »
Is anyone successfully using an X-10 Transceiver to send commands to X-10 Devices from a remote. Right now I can control lights on my Living room from my media director but I also have X-10 in areas where I don't have a media director to control them from without having to go back and forth. I was thinking about an X-10 remote and a TM751

Any ideas or suggestions?

Users / help with scenarios
« on: May 02, 2009, 04:16:19 am »
I guess I just don't get it but I have checked the wiki for help on scenarios and I still could not figure out how to do the following:
I have created a lighting device (x10) basically on/off. What I want is to start a media file when the on button is pressed and stop it when the off button is pressed or the media file quits playing. I started creating the scenario but then when I add the media to it I don't quite understand the options there.... when it asks for a media string, is it askinf for the path and filename for the media file I want to play?
Sorry if it sounds like a stupid question. I am new to linux and still don't know what I am doing.

Thanks
