I have been having a problem where every few days I turn on my TV and the server is non-responsive.  Ie I can't connect my fiire chief, I get no video, etc.  I now have a laptop where I can ssh into the server.  I logged in and cpu is very low.  I checked the log and I see a LOT of the following messages:

Jun 16 22:50:24 dcerouter kernel: [76470.546007] Neighbour table overflow.
Jun 16 22:50:24 dcerouter kernel: [76470.546144] Neighbour table overflow.

What do these mean?  Is this what is causing my problem or a result of whatever it is?

I am running a hybrid system and I have some data on a raid array that I don't want pulled into the database no matter what user.  I have tried the Ignore and disabled options, and even deleting it in MCE control panel.  It always comes back and adds a symlink in /home/public/data/other to the /media/xxxxx automount point that linux assigns automatically.  Is there a way to prevent this from happening?  I don't want this media in the database, I'm only trying to use the system for DVDs now and I don't want excess entries clogging the database when I don't intend to utilize any of this media through the MCE orbiter.  I want to use the computer sometimes (as I am now) and not have to get everything pulled into the database.  Please advise!

Thanks!

Users / How do we update DVD cover art that amazon can't get?
« on: May 30, 2008, 09:02:17 am »
Some of my DVDs can't get the correct cover art from amazon, usually its a foreign version or an HD-DVD, etc.  How can I update these manually?  I am not having much luck with the media file sync add/update pic feature.  It works for the pic after you click on the movie, but not the one you see in the orbiter when you are browsing.  I have tried to overwrite the pic in /home/mediapics with what I want to use but then it generates another file and thumbnail with a higher number and uses the original pic I chose.  Has anyone gotten this to work?  I'm using a jpg, and I've restarted the router and orbiter after updating and I still am not having any luck.  Also I notice after I enter a pic to use, it creates the thumbnail and regular file, but when I browse the /home/mediapics dir using the preview function in KDE I can see the thumbnail pic ok, but the regular one is not visible.  When I click on it the pic browser comes up but nothing is visible, like it is corrupted or something.  Any help will be appreciated.

Users / Adding Fiire Chief remote to existing install
« on: May 24, 2008, 12:35:12 am »
Is there a page detailing this?  I only find how to try to get non-fiire chief remotes to work when searching.  Should this just be plug and play?  I see the led on the receiver is orange, should it be green?  It is solid, not flashing.  I tried to add remote, Fiire in the admin page.  I tried the MCR remote template and it does not seem to work after reloading the router.  Should I be using a different template?  When I select Mfr. Fiire, and click add filter there is no device template listed in the pull-down menu anymore.

Users / Setting up RAID on a hybrid system for main system disk?
« on: May 21, 2008, 08:23:48 pm »
Is it possible to do this after you have installed LinuxMCE?  I found a few threads showing to install Ubuntu with software raid on two disks, then install LinuxMCE on top.  I have MCE installed on a 1TB disk and I would like to mirror that with a second 1TB disk for fault tolerance.  I hope this is possible without reinstalling, but if not do I just need to get the CD download, the Ubuntu CD, and install ubuntu with raid, then mce on top?

Currently I can go into the config menu but it allows me to configure raid on two new disks.  If it is possible to do this in the KDE environment outside of the MCE admin page I'd be happy to do that.  I would like to avoid reinstalling since I have the setup working great and it has taken a while to get it here.

Thanks for any assistance!

Users / is 1080i working in 0710 w/ Nvidia 8500GT?
« on: May 18, 2008, 02:19:28 pm »
I saw that it was unsupported for a while in previous releases, is this still the case?  If anyone has it working can you please share your xorg.conf file?

My TV supports 1080i not 1080p so I can't use the setup program to set the video.  I have it working fine on 720p now but I'd like to get 1080i for full HD on channels that support it.

Thanks!

Users / Another media browsing thread..
« on: May 16, 2008, 09:28:58 am »
Before you ask, I have searched and read most if not all of the threads.  First of all, this is not an issue for a small few, it is something that needs to be addressed.  I am fine with using the filename suggestion that has come up numerous times although that does not work.  I have a few files in my /home/user_1/data/videos root dir, then I have made a subdirectory structure 2-deep to test this out.  There is one file in the root (videos) dir, and the rest are in subdir Myd (or subdirs of that).  When I browse I see the public media, then I enter my pin and see all the media if sorting by title.  If I sort by filename then I only see the file in the root dir of my private files.  I though I would see the directory names as well so I can navigate through the file structure?  What good is it if it is root dir or everything?  I saw a thread where someone mentioned to stop complaining and use filename, and if it isn't working its broken, fix it.  Well, it sounds like mine is broken and I would love to know how to fix it.  I have not found any info on here.  I am pretty proficient with unix/linux but new to MCE.

Second question - if I am logged in (I'm listed under user) should I be able to see my private media without entering the pin?  This is my desired behavior to not have to have everyone have access, but I was wondering if this is the way it is supposed to work.  The documentation page example about john and susan's music seems to indicate otherwise.

Users / New core/hybrid system: Which NVidia card to get?
« on: May 15, 2008, 07:32:09 pm »
I am running fine in masked mode with an ATI Radeon card, but would like to use the alpha blended mode.  This will be my core/hybrid system, I may add a few thin clients later.  Is the GeForce 8500 sufficient or the 8600?  Trying to keep the cost of the card down but I don't want to suffer in functionality or performance.  I searched but found a lot of issues with any card I tried of course.

Also what is the recommended bandwidth between thin client and core to transmit video/dvd reliably?  I assume you don't want to do this over wireless-G or is this in fact possible?

Thanks!
