Installation issues / LinuxMCE 8.10 is Deleting Itself?!
« on: October 05, 2009, 09:20:55 pm »
I have tried installing 8.10 a few times, and the last few attempts have meet with various problems. Most of them have been solved through tinkering. My latest problem (happened on the last 3 installs) is a self deleting install. After I have completed the install per the wiki directions of 8.10, everything seams to be working. My system was controlling the TV and receiver properly, DVDs would play, etc. However when I came back in the morning to continue tinkering (setting up insteon and the such), the system had deleted itself. MythTV was uninstalled, all of the pluto database tables were missing, the web admin was deleted, etc.

Any ideas?

My system specs are in my signature.

Users / Opening Trailer?
« on: January 17, 2009, 06:53:19 pm »
Is there a way to pause playback of a video, play a different video (like a movie theater opener), then re-start the original video?

I have a theater PC hooked up to a projector. When I start playback for the first time, I want it to turn on the projector (working now), play an opener, and then play the video I selected.

Users / AV Commands not working
« on: December 12, 2008, 08:41:49 pm »
As a continuation of post http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=6865.0, but now in a different direction, I am unable to control my receiver through LinuxMCE. I created an AV Equipment through the devices wizard for my receiver (had to create a new template). The weird thing is I can go into A/V Properties for the device and see all of my pronto codes for the device. I am able to test each of the commands from there and it does the appropriate things to my receiver. I setup in the template all of the commands to work with the A/V Properties (on, off, vol+ vol-, etc). Each command's number matches back to the A/V Properties, so I think that is working. However when I go into the advanced properties of the device, click the send command button, and send it a command, I get no response from the device. I have no logs for any device other than the basic components (no log for even the MD!), so I have no help there.

Can anyone help with this? I'd love to be able to use LinuxMCE as it was intended.

Users / Missing Pipes in Media Director
« on: December 07, 2008, 10:23:49 pm »
I'm trying to hook up my receiver to my Media Director. I followed the instructions here on the wiki page for AV Devices (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/AV_Devices) I used the nice connection wizard, but I still cannot control the device while watching a video. I know the receiver device is working, I can send the commands from the device in the admin website. When I went into the media director and looked at the pipes, I got the correct input pipes from the receiver, but there are no options in the media director. Is this normal? (I have a screen shot attached)

Users / LIRC RAW IR Commands?
« on: December 06, 2008, 06:51:13 pm »
I've been working on trying to get linuxmce to control my receiver (Onkyo HT-RC506) with little luck. I could not find pronto style codes to send. I used lirc's irrecord function to get the raw codes for the remote to control the receiver, however I have not had any luck in finding a way to convert these codes into the pronto format. Does anyone have any experience with this? If not, is there a way to get linuxmce to take the lirc commands?

Example single button config file from irrecord:

begin remote

  name   ONKYO_RC-707M
  flags RAW_CODES|CONST_LENGTH
  eps            30
  aeps          100

  ptrail          0
  repeat     0     0
  gap    107325

      begin raw_codes

          name POWER
             9000    4450     600     500     650    1600
              600     500     650     450     650    1600
              650     450     650    1600     650    1600
              600     500     650     450     650    1600
              650    1600     600     500     650    1600
              600    1650     600     500     600    1650
              600    1600     650     500     600    1600
              650     500     600     500     600    1650
              600    1650     600     500     600     500
              600    1650     600     500     600    1650
              600    1650     600     500     600     500
              600

      end raw_codes

end remote

Users / One screen orbiter, one video?
« on: April 26, 2008, 08:42:13 pm »
Is it possible to have one screen show the orbiter and another show the video playback?

The setup I am working on has a touchscreen for the remote control (currently working flawlessly) and I want to have the video card display the video on my TV (1080i). I can get the clone mode to work, but then the video is distorted on the TV (4:3 aspect on the touchscreen, 19:8, or whatever the wide screen is on the TV) which is not good. I can't get the clone to go the other way as the touchscreen only supports 1024x768.

Is there any way to get this to work? Maybe a second X session with the orbiter running on there without video, with the video displaying on the first X session?
