Developers / How to set MPV as default player for LMCE
« on: April 09, 2016, 03:46:04 pm »
Hi Folks

I posted a while back about some of my mp4 videos not playing correctly to the MD under this topic http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=14095.msg101847#msg101847.

I decided to test the same video's out on my laptop running 64 bit Of Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Open the video  under the normal Ubuntu player  and it played as expected,  installed xine player,  open the same file and got 6 seconds of audio before dying... same thing happens when playing on LMCE MD.

Done research and installed VLC player, libdvdcss2, and every other decoder available to Ubuntu still no joy.

Video plays audio for 6 seconds, skip a head the video plays but then freezes.

Certain videos play fine and load instantly with the  same result with LMCE 14.4.

Read this topic today http://linuxg.net/how-to-install-mpv-on-ubuntu-14-04-trusty-tahr-ubuntu-13-10-saucy-salamander-and-linux-mint-16-petra/and it seems MPV is new mplayer.

This mpv player along with Ubuntu's build in player and VLC play the videos.

So my question is, how hard is it to set either of the above players  as LMCE default player, removing xine from the system.

Or am taken a trip down the wrong lane?

I look forward to your response's

Cheers
Gov

Users / Adding a NTFS hard drive under 1404
« on: March 07, 2016, 01:55:56 pm »
Hi Folks

Instead of opening  another topic I am going to post here as I have the same problem.

Just installed 14.4 the latests snap shot and ran a sudo update.

Plugged in my USB 4TB Seagate  Expansion Desk  external hard drive with all my media,  and the LMCE didn't ask to added it to the system.

Instead I had to mount it to /home/public/date/videos/dvd (dvd is a new folder I created )

sudo mount /dev/sdb2 /home/public/data/videos/dvds

The drive works prefect in 10.4 and LMCE picks the device up with out any issues.

As you can see from the out put of lsblk, the device is there

NAME   MAJ:MIN RM   SIZE RO TYPE MOUNTPOINT
sda      8:0    0 465.8G  0 disk
|-sda1   8:1    0 461.9G  0 part /

Users / lmce-md-meta packages have unmet dependencies
« on: January 24, 2016, 12:35:50 pm »
Hi folks

I edited the  /usr/pluto/bin/Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh and enable "raspbian_armhf"  LMCE 14.4

Ran /usr/pluto/bin/Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh and ended up with the following error

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
lmce-md-meta : Depends: pluto-avwizard (>= 2.0.0.46) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: pluto-avwizard (< 2.0.0.47) but it is not going to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.
/usr/pluto/bin/Diskless_CreateTBZ.sh: line 170: /tmp/TeeMyOutputExitCode_3193: No such file or directory

Does this effect the Raspberry Pi2 setup and how do you fix such error

Users / lmce-media-identifier upgrade error
« on: January 24, 2016, 11:50:19 am »
Hi Folks

Just ran an upgrade on 14.4 and lmce-media-identifier is giving the following error

dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/lmce-media-identifier_2.0.0.47.16010531792_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/pluto/bin/External_Media_Identifier', which is also in package id-my-disc 1.8.ub1004

E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

Fix for me was to

sudo apt-get remove --purge id-my-disc

sudo apt-get remove --purge lmce-media-identifier

sudo apt-get install lmce-media-identifier

Tried to re-install id-my-disc

get this error

dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/id-my-disc_1.8.ub1004_i386.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/pluto/bin/External_Media_Identifier', which is also in package lmce-media-identifier 2.0.0.47.16010531792

Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/id-my-disc_1.8.ub1004_i386.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

There seems to be a conflict of packages .

Hi All
I started a little project for DansGuardian back several weeks ago to allow editing of configuration files such banned site list, exception ip list, etc.

I am looking for some testers and suggestion from the community.

The basic functions of the module is to allow editing of the configuration files without having to SSH into Linuxmce console.

The layout of the module is as followed.

A new folder called dansguardian is created inside the lmce-admin folder.

Inside of this folder contains several PHP scripts folders & two .sh files and one exported mysql  file.

On the initial setup the main index.php file checks the database to see if we have a database called dansgaurdian, If the database doesn’t exist, it will create it, and then import the exported mysql file.

Next, it checks to see if there is any IP address belonging to the MD’s in the pluto_main/ Device table and if there is any IP address, then export and import them into dansguardian/ exceptioniplist.

This check allows our entire MD’S to have full access to the internet.

The android app is just a font end to the module and allows you to easy  add and edit blocked/exceptional  ips and websites,  also  any changes made to the scripts in the back end, the app is updated on the next re-opening.

If you’re interested in testing or have any suggestion then follow the below.

You a can also see screen shots and video clips here  https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b4kwchpa153e6sr/AADbS964eH9DpuBLFCEKSON6a?dl=0

**Please note, I can't be held responsible if this back your system**.

I have  tested this on my live machine of 10.4 and it should work with 8 & 12 system, but I haven't tested it on 8.10 system.

Sudo commands maybe different on different systems.

To get started follow these instructions.
*** You must have DansGuardian & Squid3(transparent)installed first ***

Before we start, lets create a back up
SSH into your LMCE
mkdir /etc/dansguardianBACKUP
cp -r /etc/dansguardian/* /etc/dansguardianBACKUP
Check to see  if the backup is OK
cd /etc/dansguardianBACKUP
type dir  you should the files and folder then
cd
continue to install below

1.   SSH into your LMCE
2.   chown your username -R /var/www/lmce-admin
3.   cd /var/www/lmce-admin/
4.   wget http://www.woodart.ie/dansguardian.tar
5.   tar -xzf dansguardian.tar
6.   Check to see if the folder was extracted and created type dir
7.   you will see a folder called dansguardian in the lmce-admin folder.
8.   Type cd
9.   To ensure the folder and files is writable type
10.   chown your username -R /var/www/lmce-admin/dansguardian/
11.   type cd
12.   The Below command copies the scripts to enable and disable filtering
13.   cp /var/www/lmce-admin/dansguardian/setupfiles/*.sh /usr/pluto/bin/
14.   visit http://192.168.80.1/lmce-admin/dansguardian/index.php OR  http://dcerouter/lmce-admin/dansguardian/
15.   You should get all systems good to go if the install went correctly
16.   Download the android app from here https://www.dropbox.com/s/s1yatre9iv7x6pq/LMCE.apk?dl=0

Warning Note:
if you are testing the filter by categories do not enable the categories that have a red warning.

If you have installed the blacklist correctly you will have a green tick against the each category.

This green tick tells you are good to enable.

If you enable a red warning dansguardian won't restart  and all internet will be down and you will have to edit the file manually and then  remove the all of the categories that were  enabled.

I use nano you may be using VI

nano /etc/dansguardian/lists/bannedsitelist

scroll down to the to the categories list  and crtl + k to cut the text  (ie nano) crtl + o to save and crtl+x to exit

restart Dans
/etc/init.d/dansguardian start or /etc/init.d/dansguardian reload

Then revisit filter by categories in the drop down menu. disable all and update Dans Guardian, other wise every time you update the file, it will hang the system because the database was not told to disable the category, and you will have to repeat the above steps.

You can see it in action by disabling the filter  and watching the log using this command  tail -f /var/log/squid3/access.log

Once disabled the log does not move or update.

any issues let me know in real time seanmcgovern626@yahoo.com or in this topic.

Developers / PHP to execute sudo command
« on: August 24, 2015, 10:38:21 pm »
Hi Folks

Working on a little project for dansguardian and squid3, mostly dansguardian,  but have ran into a problem,  is there away for PHP to execute sudo command.

I need to execute  /etc/init.d/dansguardian restart using PHP, I have seen the command in some php files in lmce-admin, but I just  can't get it to work. do I need to include some files belonging to LMCE?

Once I get pass this part my project will rolling, here is a quick video of what I have achieved so far

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/b4kwchpa153e6sr/AADbS964eH9DpuBLFCEKSON6a?dl=0

I have made some changes since this video..etc added in a delete button to remove blocked sites.

Any help would be great,

Installation issues / Volume levels drop on MD
« on: July 15, 2015, 11:29:57 pm »
Hi folks

Don't know if this is an bug, but every time I power on my MD  I have to increase the volume through ssh

So its clear, my MD'S work with with 8.10 prefect I am currently running 12.4.

I also don't want to come across a moan, but I am testing and reporting issues back to that we can all benefit.

As every one's hard ware is different.

The volume was increase on the initial setup under Av wizard  to 100%, but every time I boot up the MD the volume is low and I have to ssh into MD and up it.

let me know  if there is a command I can run to report the issue in more detail.

Cheers

Installation issues / Issue with 12.4 video play back of mp4
« on: July 12, 2015, 03:39:32 pm »
Hi folks

the  issue,

Xine keeps crashing on certain play back of MP4 video files, the same video files played on 8.10, and play back was prefect.

LMCE install snapshot

LMCE 1204 20150630070030841.iso   30 Jun 2015   2.2Gb

( sudo upgrade completed after install )

The core is  Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor DRAM Controller (rev 06)

The MD
Intel Corporation Mobile 945GM/PM/GMS, 943/940GML and 945GT Express (due to be replaced)

It freezes during play back of 1 or 2 minutes and I have to kill the process.

see paste bin here http://pastebin.com/rnfe0TKb ,   look for video name 17 again

after freezing no other video will play from the library, quick reload allows me to choose different video file, but only audio plays.

Stop it and choose the same file again and I get both audio and video play back.

please advise

Installation issues / Owncloud loses LMCE configuration.
« on: July 11, 2015, 09:02:30 pm »
Hi Folks

Just installed 12.4 on my brand new PC, 8.10 wouldn't run on my new machine.

Decided to install owncloud and it worked no problem, but it has lost all the LMCE configurations, it looks nothing like the screen shots  on linuxmce.org .

The CSS style is gone and there is no links to LMCE storage.

Checking the system version. it has installed 8.1 of owncloud the latest release.

Is this a big problem for me, No, but I am pretty sure this isn't good for the work done by ochorocho (please correct me if I have the wrong name.)

The last time I install 12.4 in the early stages, owncloud looked pretty cool, I loved the way it looked like the LMCE forum.

This maybe something worth looking into.

Hi
Just want to post this here future reference hope LMCE team don't mind, and for any one looking for transparent proxy the below works, I have it working on Linuxmce 10.4

remember I  am not responsible  if your machine breaks. but again I just want some were to future reference.

I respect the fact that squid in been worked on for the new up coming releases. as per http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Squid
and well done to the dev's.

Here'ss my quick notes to get it working  (some wording is taken from http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_Dansguardian & http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Squid  )

Thank's to these wiki pages they helped a lot

sudo apt-get install squid3
edit squid3 config
nano /etc/squid3/squid.conf
replace
http_port 3128 to http_port 3128 transparent
Find the "acl localhost src" line and insert the following line below: "acl dcerouterlocalnet src 192.168.80.0/24"
Find the following line: # INSERT YOUR OWN RULE(S) HERE TO ALLOW ACCESS FROM YOUR CLIENTS
Under the line is one that reads "http_access allow localhost". Below this you need to insert a line allowing your local LAN; "http_access allow dcerouterlocalnet. Now save the file, and exit.

apt-get install dansguardian
nano /etc/dansguardian/dansguardian.conf
change filter port to  8081 and proxyip = 192.168.80.1
save

/etc/init.d/apache2 restart
/etc/init.d/dansguardian stop
/etc/init.d/dansguardian start
sudo /etc/init.d/squid3 restart

Edit file /usr/pluto/bin/Network_Firewall.sh from terminal

nano /usr/pluto/bin/Network_Firewall.sh OR  vi /usr/pluto/bin/Network_Firewall.sh

NOTE: check ifconfig to figure out what lan card has static address  eht0 or eth1  change the eth in the forward port rule to match lan card of static ip address from LMCE .ie 192.68.80.1

Add the below line  in just under the heading # Set some default firewall parameters before opening ports

iptables -A PREROUTING -t nat -i eth0 -p tcp --dport 80 -j REDIRECT --to-port 8081

Then close and save  and reboot the system, visit  http://whatismyipaddress.com/proxy-check to check if proxy is working.

The normal firewall forwarding rule would not work even if  you enable it, so my work around was to setup upon booting the core.

Install proxy graph to view the hits and page catches, follow the following link.

http://askubuntu.com/questions/12420/any-idea-how-to-use-tail-f-in-squid-to-see-logging-and-processing-on-localhost

Create cronjob under root  to update chart

crontab -e

Add the following line

*/5 * * * * cd /etc/init.d/squid-graph && ./squid-graph --tcp-only -n -o=/var/www/squid-graph/ --title="Give your report a title " < /var/log/squid3/access.log

CD into /etc/init.d/squid-graph and edit the file  nano squid-graph to add auto refresh to the html report for every 6 minutes

Locate the below line
print IDX "<H1>$title</H1>\n";

And add the below line under it

print IDX "<meta http-equiv=\"refresh\" content=\"360\" \n";
