Users / MythTV's Internal Guide
« on: March 27, 2008, 06:02:22 pm »
Hi,

I'm having the exact issue from the first part of grepico's post: http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=4157.0

It seems that when I change the channel via the guide in MythTV I get snow. I can use the cable box remote without any issues but I have to have it on MythTv's channel 3. The issue arises when I try to schedule a recording it only records snow. Do I really need the USBUIRT in order for MythTV's internal guide to change my cable box channels when I just want to watch tv and record a show?

Grepico's thread seems to taper off into another topic and didn't really give a resolution on this issue. Thanks

Users / Thumbnails in Orbiter
« on: March 18, 2008, 05:41:27 pm »
Ok I've been researching this and have read some helpful posts but while trying to get my pictures to display thumbnails in the orbiter I noticed a couple of things.

Within the pictures folder LMCE creates two additional files for each picture. One is .id3 which im guessing is for the database. Then a thumbnail under the file ext of .tnj.

I had to manually copy each picture and rename them with the .tnj extension within Dolphin (linux explorer) in order to display the thumbnails. Problem solved but unpractical if you have a large collection of pictures to transfer. But I did notice that a couple of pictures didn't have a .id3 copy. So i thought the file name was the issue so i changed one file name by removing all the spaces and it generated a .tnj by itself!

So my question is...does the file name have to be a certain format in order for linux to automatically generate a .tnj file? Or am i doing something wrong?

I need help installing the video drivers (Nvidia® Geforce7050PV/NF630a), actually any and all drivers, bios updated included, for AN-M2HD on Linux MCE 0710 Beta4 in order to get the HDMI output to function properly.  I know if it were windows all I have to do is insert the disc and read the directions but under linux its a bit different. Any help concerning this wold be greatly appreciated.

Can anybody tell me if this Gigabyte MB http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductReview.aspx?Item=N82E16813128056 works with the latest LinuxMCE build. If it does i think i finally found the solution to connect it to my archaic TV (components) but has HDMI for possible tv upgrade. Any help would be appreciated

Users / Connecting my TV and Reciever
« on: February 27, 2008, 05:31:53 pm »
I'm a little vexed concerning how I will connect my LinuxMCE box to my component tv and Sony receiver. This video describes connecting the devices http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=2176025602905109829&hl=en via usb --> RS232 but my equipment doesn't have serial connections.

The only way I can think of is a dvi--> component cable from the video card to my tv and use digital out from my motherboard or sound card to my receiver. Would this be a correct way to connect these devices? Any suggestion or tips would be appreciated. Thanks
