Feature requests & roadmap / a plugin for streaming creative commons music
« on: November 11, 2008, 10:15:25 am »
I was thinking it would be cool if a media center had a plugin for streaming music from sites that host music under creative commons, like jamendo.com.  By default a person that has a new media center would have 1000s of music albums to kick off their new system.  And it would promote the artist, promote music under creative commons, and save hard drive space.

I would love to know what peoples thought are on this.

cheers  :)

Installation issues / Need some advice with basic cable
« on: June 21, 2008, 10:42:44 pm »
Hi,
I just moved into a new place that has basic cable (38 channels) no digital cable box, just a cable from the wall.  I installed LinuxMCE and it  saw and automatically configured my WinTV tuner card and is set to use the right ports.  when i run the wizard it says that it "cannot get TV listing from the provider".  I tryed configuring Myth and tested VDR but both dont get a signal.  In the admin web page it shows different options for changing the cable signal, set to auto by default but doesnt have and options to save any changes.

I was wondering if i need a cable box between my cable and LinuxMCE or if there is something i missed. I think it is something really simple but not sure. When I get back home i will check to confirm that it isnt the cable or my Tv tunner card.

Any advise or pointers would greatly help. Thanks

PS Everything eles works like a dream, LinuxMCE ROCKS!!!!!

Feature requests & roadmap / Speech Recognition
« on: January 21, 2008, 10:36:36 am »
I was wondering if LinuxMCE might have speech recognition in the future. I know a lot of other companies and projects have had a lot of problems with it and the software has been buggy in even the commercial software. Hmm maybe i answered my own question lol. But just wanted to know your thoughts on it.

here is a link I found to some of the different softwares used for it

http://www.faqs.org/docs/Linux-HOWTO/Speech-Recognition-HOWTO.html

Thanks

Developers / Just wanted to say thanks
« on: January 21, 2008, 09:05:26 am »
Hi
I just started using LinuxMCE a few weeks ago.  After seeing the video demo i was so amazed and had to give MCE a try.  Its so cool Linux MCE has a lot of the best apps open source has to offer all wrapped into one easy to use system. Linux MCE does almost everything I would want a home system/media center to do, and everything else is in the works.  With the power that Linux MCE has and ease of use I can see this system being a standard in every home.

I just want to say thanks to everyone who is working on this project. I have been using Linux for 5 years now and i have never been this impressed.

Thank you

Users / Dual Monitors running on the core
« on: January 15, 2008, 12:07:14 am »
Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has gotten Twin-view working with an Nvidia graphics card. I have done it on other Ubuntu PCs using the Nvidia config but it always looks bad and I dont want to mess up my core.
The only other way is to set up a MD for that monitor, but it seems to be over kill to me.

If anyone has any pointers or how-tos please let me know.

Thanks
