Users / [solved] Black screen after starting X-Server
« on: November 17, 2007, 07:41:31 am »

My MD gets stuck while booting, I see the outputs and at the point where X-Server starts the screen gets black. Looking at the logs I can see, that X-Server had been started. Checking syslog, dmesg and pluto-log for my MD shows no errors, same for the logs on the core. Maybe I missed the correct log.

I have an nVidia GF5200 in my MD (Inspiron 8600). No problems Installing Kubuntu as OS on my Laptop, the nVidia-driver works fine. I already had a look at But didn't try it. The solution in Display_Drivers is for the core? I don't won't to mess it up, because it seems to run properly.

Any hints where to start?

« on: November 12, 2007, 08:44:57 pm »
Hi all

while booting my laptop (MD) via network i get the following error:

Error: Microcode "bcm43xx_microcode4.fw" not available or load failed.

this just after the MD monitoring service mdadm had been startet.

this are the last entries of syslog on the core:
Nov 12 20:12:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[20925]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/
Nov 12 20:13:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[21682]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/
Nov 12 20:14:03 dcerouter atftpd[18381]: atftpd terminating after 300 seconds
Nov 12 20:14:03 dcerouter atftpd[18381]: Main thread exiting
Nov 12 20:15:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[23338]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/
Nov 12 20:17:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[24963]: (root) CMD (   cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly)
Nov 12 20:18:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[25830]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/
Nov 12 20:20:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[27426]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/
Nov 12 20:21:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[28163]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/
Nov 12 20:24:01 dcerouter /USR/SBIN/CRON[30620]: (root) CMD (/usr/pluto/bin/

i asume this is the driver for my networkcard (bcm4306).

any ideas or tips where to start?
