Installation issues / Slight niggle on installation & GFX question
« on: November 30, 2007, 02:43:46 pm »
Did a temporary install on my mythTV server using a fresh HDD.

Went to mythtv part to view live tv and it failed. I knew it would as I hadn't installed the firmware for my two Nova-T 500's.

The only thing that really irked me was the fact I could not traverse the mythtv menu without the message poping up saying all available encoders were in use (ie none available). Each time this happened I would be flung back to the front menu for mythtv.

Now onto my question:

Is there any support for my motherboards on-board graphics card: Intel GMA 3100 (GA-G33-DSR3 m/b)

Installation issues / Install on RAID 5
« on: November 21, 2007, 01:53:05 pm »
I currently have 6 HDD's setup as RAID1 (100Mb Boot), RAID1 (10Gb Swap) and RAID5 (root partition with 2.2TB).

When I install LinuxMCE will I be able to reinstall ontop of this software RAID or will I need to get the alternative Kubuntu disk and setup software RAID again?

I will remove 1 of the drives to backup my current recordings from MythTV, approx 450Gb. This will also drop me below the 2Tb limit of 32bit. How do I then add these recordings to the LinuxMCE core?

Installation issues / Linux MCE install on MythTV master backend system?
« on: November 17, 2007, 09:17:01 pm »
I have a MythTV master backend server up and running and have tried to install the Linux MCE for my front end and it was a mitigated disaster.

Is Linux MCE compatible with a MythTV backend or was I just completely mistaken?

Going by my own experiences this cannot be served from a current MythTV master backend system and would need a clean install on the server (not an option to reformat 2.3TB of HDD space and loose 1TB of recorded media).

In the end when I tried to setup mythfrontend with my servers Ip address and mysql password it repeatedly kept on interupting my inputs with the pretty damn obvious error that there is no backend running.

I am now temporarily running with MythUbuntu just to get a frontend up and running in the short term and then later on tonight doing a reinstall of Ubuntu and MythTV frontend.

Unfortunately I ONLY have 1.5 days to play around with my system as I work away from home so this is why I give up so easily. Linux MCE is one hell of a system to install and took best part of 5 hours to complete.

I have now wasted over 7GB of my IPS's download allowance downloading 704 from piratebay.

The DVD failed on decompression yet passed the md5sum

The CD1 failed on boot and also passed the md5sum.

I got Error 15 on boot from CD1.

WHAT IS GOING ON?

With downloads from ubuntu site I have had ZERO problems!!!!!!!!
