Developers / XML error?
« on: January 14, 2009, 03:13:36 am »
Hey all, hey to thom,

I notice during your screencasts that during the process of laying the floorplan for minimo skin you got an error along the lines of cannot find bitmap / XML file.                   so does this mean that linuxmce can read xml files... i got my second hand computer and installing all software to it tonight to which will allow me to design in HA,        if it is possible can you please let me know since i have some experiencing in XML with media portal and xbmc,       i know its a different skin engine used, but just the coding seems very similar to me which i feel alot more confortable in. :)

great work on the minimo skin, something i can see has alot of potential compared to the "yucky" pluto theme which has been my resistance to change so far.

hopefully we all can produce something which will be totally unique and give a better experience to all users.

finally getting to help in someway shape or form soo thumbs up and hoping to achieve. :D

dane out.

Developers / New Skinning engine.
« on: May 07, 2008, 03:33:09 am »
I am Willing to pay $400-500US for a new skinning engine like XML to be applied to linuxMCE.      i will give A respected member of the linuxMCE $250 to hold in good faith and the rest upon completion. i would be happy to donate it all to the lmce project.  i have some experience in XML skinning in media portal which from there i can help out. in further devolopment.

I Hope again i don't come across as throwing money to a good foundation to get what i want.  i really want to help out and if a XML engine was added then myself and others would be able to.

Thanks for hearing me out.

Users / LinuxMCE fixed my HDD! Woot!
« on: November 01, 2007, 12:10:32 pm »
Just wanted to let some people know that LinuxMCE had fixed my Hard drive.    Dont know how but through months of trying to re-format it it has finally worked for me and can get it working again.

I found LMCE to be very good with playing my audio sound and Dvds usually i get crackling sounds which make watching some videos unbearable. However LMCE as good in the manner.

I found that some of the texts to be to big for the boxes. making The gui abit frustrating  however once to be put on a projection screen will hardly notice it.

The inbuilt router over powered my original router causing no internet accessibility not allowing me to test my browsing functionality.

I was suprised to see my friends wireless laptop picked up the 192.168.1.1 through my router allowing him to access the control panel through his wireless laptop through the router into my computer which tempary gave him no internet access either.

The setup process is pretty downpat however i dont know if its my wireless mouse but the constant clicking for the next button to work the one time is to far fetched.

i have ordered some x10 devices and a bluetooth dongle, also i have ordered my grandmother a new PC which i plan on testing out a few features first.  Ill be back with some pics later.

I havnt tried all the functionality so i wont be to fast to have my final judgement on this product however it still does look pretty promising compared to Windows MCE.

what i would like to see in  future releases?
-Skype
-MSN
- Codecs which can support .RM real media easy codec packages... :)

Hopefully i havnt been to bashful and hope to make this project better by offering my criticism.

Users / Same question by a newb. But Whats the go?
« on: October 28, 2007, 11:28:29 am »
Hello, Over this coming summer holidays after my many hours soon to be worked i would like to set my house up almost exactly to the way it has been demonstrated in the video.
Throughout two days of investigating into this i have downloaded LinuxMCE and am awaiting the funds to put together my system.
Through the investigation and the watching of the video several times i have come to the conclusion of the minor things which will be needed if to build such a beast throughtout the house.
So far i have gather that i will be building a system with a core and 3 thin clients attached .

With in the the core i have gathered this is what i have to add please tell me if i am missing any devices which will allow me to complete my task.
CORE
- Hard drives x 5
- 1Gb of Ram.
- motherboard with onboard VGA (does it matter if its not a nvidia?)
- Does it matter if its WiFi or Lan
- Tv Card (more then one?)
- Bluetooth Dongle?
- x10 usb reciver?

Thin Clients
- Doesit matter the speed of the processor? would 1.5Ghz be enough or need more?
-Ram?
- do i just need a small Hard drive for the client so it can run LMCE?
- bluetooth are they needed for each client or just is the one needed.
-Wifi or lan?

I also have some Old Pdas which have bluetooth wifi ect on them which used to be on the cdma network here in australia, since they arnt doing anything is it easy to install them into remotes...?     Also i have seen the discussion of using a Wii Remote should that just be Plug and play? or is there more messing around then it seems?

Ive search for a so called "Jukebox" as described in the video could someone point me in the right direction i would be ever most greatful.

Next on the agenda is X10 products i noticed that they used z-wave in the video im not sure if this is technology or a product but theres a mixture of responces on google.  if someone could point to what products i may need eg camera's motion sensors, alarms ect...

I plan on having this set up by Jan 1st for my new years Party to show of to my friends and if this works out being successful ill be back posting tutorials screenshots what ever help i may have required back to these forums...
Thanks for taking the time to read this long as help file. and hopefully one day i can put it back to another noob like myself. Cheers People. And ill see you on the otherside of my computer Using LMCE ;) Look foward to hearing from you.
