Has anyone tried a PSP as an orbiter?

Just curious, I have one laying around and figured I would ask

Users / Auto Scan All Media

Does this feature work?

It says that it starts the daemon.... but then nothing happens... so i have no idea.

I tried to search the forums, but I do not see a whole lot about it.

Also does linuxmce store the images in a sql db or just an image stored within the file system?

Users / Diskless MD
« on: August 30, 2007, 03:03:57 pm »
I am trying to use a laptop with network boot to act as a diskless MD.

I have followed the steps on

"In LinuxMCE Admin go to Wizard, Devices, Media Directors. Add the media director if this is a new one, and set the mac address. The mac address should be a series of six 2 character sequences separated by colons, like this: 1A:00:F2:21:23:9F"

However I go there and I see my core as a device then I go to add new at the bottom, I update the information (no where for a MAC address) then the only button I see is a close button and the information that I have just created is no where to be found.

I clicked setup diskless media directors and reloaded the router and the MD will not boot.

I can update with screenshots if needed because i am sure my descriptions are not the best.

Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

Users / Network Setup
« on: August 29, 2007, 05:13:10 pm »
Ok, I have been reading posts here for weeks now and I am finally getting my setup close to how it needs to be...

My question, and i didn't see an appropriate one throughout my searching, is about how to setup my networking.

What I have:
two network cards in the core; one on the mobo as well as a gigabit NIC.
modem from cable company
wireless router (w/DHCP turned off)

I am curious about the best way to set up to ensure i can network boot and still have wireless acesss throughout my place.

I am thinking that these are my options... but let me know if there are better routes to take.

Option 1
Modem-->Wireless Router(DHCP off) -->Linux MCE    --> Switch --> Diskless MCEs
                                                 -->Wireless Laptops

Option 2
Modem-->Linux MCE --> Switch --> Diskless MCEs
                                            --> Wireless Router (DHCP off)

Last night I had the setup:

Modem --> LinuxMCE-->Wireless Router(DHCP off)--> Diskless MCE
                                                                   --> Wireless Laptops

and it worked (internet connectivity to everything) however upon a reboot i lost connectivity to the laptops... and through reading the posts it seems that I needed a switch in my setup... so now I am asking you all for advice...

Thanks in advance
