Installation issues / MD5 from wiki link does not match the download...
« on: September 21, 2007, 05:18:09 am »
I originally tried the 3 CD method, with no luck. (I get the Grub 1.5 loading error after Kubuntu install).

Then I tried two downloads of the DVD, the second one got me to Checkpoint 480,000 or so before giving me

Code: [Select]
gzip: stdin: invalid compressed data--format violated
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Unexpected EOF in archive
tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now

So I decided to do what most people would have already done: run the checksum. I downloaded a small file called md5.exe, and none of the checksums match. Not even the one I was linked to from the "Official Torrent" at (the other was a random torrent search).

So, before I try to reburn this DVD (or worse yet, re-download it), does anyone have any recommendations? Why doesn't the checksum match for the official torrent file!?

Thanks for the help,
