Dear all, can anybody help me ?
I recently replaced my 8.10 installation with a 10.4. Everything is more or less working now. I do have a problem with the remote control emulation on all my orbiters. It flashes on the screen for half a second and then it disappears.
I also use a web orbiter and there it works.

Any idea ? Thanks !

Installation issues / move from working 810 to 1004
« on: April 20, 2013, 12:48:43 pm »
I have a working 810 system. Can I safely move to the 1004 version without having to reconfigure all devices, orbiters, phones, etc ... ? Can I somehow save my settings and re-load them after installing 1004 ?
I guess I am not the only one with this question. I quickly scanned the forum but couldn't find any existing topic on that.
Thanks for the good work so far !
Dirk

I use a Hauppauge HVR 1900 (European version). It works on LinuxMCE 8.10 without changes. It has multiple inputs (analogue, digital, ...) but apparently I can only use one because of a bug in MythTV.
I use the analogue input.

this is the listing after interrogating linux about the usb.

Users / Re: more than one Internet Radio Streams behind a "group button" ??
« on: December 23, 2011, 09:58:48 am »
Hi, what worked for me:
- I followed the procedure described in the wiki. I needed two radio stations and so I created 2 scenario buttons. This apparently creates entries in the file table in the pluto database.
- I created a playlist called Radio and I added the two entries in the playlist (using the web LinuxMCE interface). I found the entries by scrolling through the list (the file name starts with the path part separated from it) for me the entry looks like radio1-high.mp3 while the full url = http:something  (I forgot).
-Afterwards I changed one of the added scenario's, called it Radio and in the command section changed the command into 'load Playlist' where I entered the number of my playlist (in my case 1) (look up in File&Media-> playlist)
- Then I deleted the second scenario (which was only meant to create the media file entry)
P.S. afterwards I added other staions by directly adding files in the file table entry in the pluto database but this is a little bit more tricky

The result of all this is that I have one scenraio button called 'radio'. When I click on it, the playlist opens with all my radio stations listed.

hope this helps
Dirk

Users / new multimedia attributes to be sorted on in the orbiter
« on: October 26, 2011, 10:24:20 pm »
Hi all,
I have a big collection of classical music. I would like to access and choose my music in the orbiter by composer because that makes sense. I see in the webadmin/mulrimedia browser that linuxmce can see and recognize the composer/writer attribute in the mp3 files. How can I make that the Orbiter has an extra sort and search parameter 'composer' ?
Thanks for helping me.

Installation issues / Re: Mediatomb server stops after few minutes
« on: October 26, 2011, 10:08:41 pm »
I found out what the reason was of Mediatomb being desactivated. It crashes silently when rescanning the folders. Some of them apparently contained files that it couldn't handle (corrupt files ?). In my system it turned out to be three folders that contained these kind of files. I moved them to another drive, outside the scope of Mediatomb and everything worked fine.
When I moved back the files the craches were there again. Then I converted the files with a graphical package (export with Lightroom from Adobe) and moved them back under the control of Mediatomb and then it worked again.`So the base problem is that mediatiomb cannot handle certain files (corrupt or not, I don't really know) and doesn't indicate this in the log file.
Maybe compiling with debuging 'on' would reveal something.
Hope this helps

Installation issues / Re: Mediatomb server stops after few minutes

Just to say that I have more or less the same thing. In the WebAdmin (advanced->configuration->uPnP server) I see only a login screen with a username password prompt. When I enter this, nothing happens. When I do sudo /etc/init.d/mediatomb start everything is ok, but after two minutes of working with the tool the message "MediaTomb cannot be reached" appears. Reload of the page gives me the username/password prompt again. Starting the server from a terminal restores it again, etc ...

The strange behaviour started after loading many megabytes of pictures, but I doubt there is a connection.

I work with the final 8.10 release.
