Can you do a dmesg and see if you have a symbol mismatch?

Hi,
dmesg doesn't report nothing strange. I tryed to compile and install alsa drivers doing a downgrade from 1.0.23 to 1.019 and 1.0.21 but without success. When i try to run "aplay -l" I get "no audio card found".

My question is: What's happen about sound drivers, during LinuxMCE installation? Because, the audio works well after kubuntu installation but doesn't works after LinuxMCE installation.

Any suggestions?

Regards
Giovanni

All snapshots will update themselves automaticly

....mmm so, is it the same if i try an old version or a new one?

Can you do a dmesg and see if you have a symbol mismatch?

ok I'll do it and will report...

Is it possible that in the new versions alsa driver were removed or changed and then doesn't supports the P5N7A-VM hardware any more?

Hi,
in these days, I made some test. I installed the 30 June snapshot and I can confirm that analog audio doesn't work. Next steps will be to try previous snaphots (I'm planning to try 04-Feb-2010 snapshot) and to procure an hdmi cable to test digital audio. I'm not so optimistic becouse, as indicated above, after DVD's burn and after the first phase of install (linux installation), audio works. I can play mp3, see and hear video and, most important, I'm able to open mixer. After installing linuxMCE (clicking on desktop icon to install Linuxmce) audio doesn't work and from linux desktop, if I open audio player or xine, I receive "can't find audio driver" message and I'm not able to open mixer any more.

Can someone suggest me how to proceed to fix this problem (where to look or some attempts to do).

Another question, is there an alternative way to install the snapshot except to burn the DVD? I don't want to burn too many DVDs :) I tryed unetbootin (http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/) but when I boot from usb, linux starts as live cd and the first screen to choose what install doesn't appear.

I can confirm that if I install the 07-Jun-2010 Snapshot the audio works after LinuxMCE installation also but, this Snaphot has others problems (MythTv doesn't works). With latest snapshot all seems works except the audio. Latest Snapshot update alsa driver from 1.0.17 to 1.0.23.

any ideas?

Hi all,
I'm trying to install the latest snapshot of Linuxmce (19-Jun-2010) on my asus P5N7A-VM.
I installed it using dvd method. After DVD booting I selected the last voice "install LinuxMce". After Kubuntu installation and before starting to install LinuxMCE using Desktop link, I can hear music and see video using MPlayer and mp3 player but, after Installing LinuxMCE I can't hear nothing and when I start Mplayer or mp3 player I get an error on audio driver (I can still see video).
I noticed that before LinuMCE Installation the alsa driver is at 1.0.17 but, after, it is at 1.0.20 (or 1.0.23 I can't remember). Must I update the ALSA driver?

Can someone give me some help, please?

Best Regards

Giovanni,
Yes I have submitted a template for a UK sky plus box. Not sure if this is the same as Italian Sky plus. The template will need approving by one of the developers before being included in a release. Can't say when this might happen though, I know the devs are really busy.

You will still need the usbuirt in order to transmit the ir signal. If you can't wait for the template you could build your own.
Barney

Ok, Many thanks Barney!!! I can wait for now, I'm in planning phase.
Maybe, if the publication will take a long time, I'll ask you some details on how to create the template, perhaps starting with what you did ;)

Thanks all for reply!!! Now it's more clear!!

Barney, I saw in the forum you created a device template for your sky+ box.
Which release include this template? Is that in http://linuxmce.iptp.org/release/ dir or one of snapshot's releases (in http://linuxmce.iptp.org/snapshots/ dir)?
Is this template right for italian version of sky box or I have to write my own?

All the best

Welcome to the forums Giovanni.

My solution is very similar. Capture the video and audio via s-video (I have a pvr150). I don't use the dusky solution. I have a usbuirt and I used it to 'learn' my ir controls for a sky plus box in the UK. The usbuirt then relays these commands back to the sky box.

The quality is good and the sky box can be controlled from any orbiter with only a slight lag. This means that any standard lmce remote can be used to control the sky box.

The sky receiver is added as av equipment and appears as a 'live tv' type source under the media menu on every md. I had to add my sky box in the web admin as new av equipment.
Hope this helps.
Barney

Hi Barney, thanks for reply.

I'm happy to know it works. I've some questions:
1) How many seconds pass between the pressing of the button and the channel change?
2) Is this the usbuirt you are referring to?  http://www.usbuirt.com/order.htm Or can I use the Gyration ir receiver?
3) When you say that you use your usbuirt to 'learn' your ir controls, What do you mean exactly? ....sorry, as I said I'm new to linuxmce.

Users / Dusky - How to stream sky video and control the box remotely?
« on: June 05, 2010, 01:18:28 pm »
Hi all,
I would see sky video channels (that i've selected remotely using Gyration controller) in any MD I've in my house. I've an Hauppauge Win-TV HVR 1100 and an italian Sky box.
I read the post http://forum.linuxmce.org/index.php?topic=7328.0 that suggest to use dusky to control the sky box but reading one of the last replies seems that, at January 31, 2009 it's in developer phase. is it now implemented?
how can I connect everything to make it work?
From what I understand reading (sorry, I'm new to LinuxMCE), I've to connect my sky box to core (through Hauppauge S-Video port) and the Dusky to sky box and to my usb pc port (is it rs232 connection more reliable?). Is it correct?
Someone have played with it? which is the video quality?

Giovanni
