Installation issues / TV card Install - Hauppauge 4000
« on: August 07, 2009, 08:14:09 pm »
I have installed a Hauppauge HVR-4000 card into my core (hybrid). I have installed the Hauppauge card firmware and driver. It is using v4l2. To remove any LinuxMCE issues I installed Kubuntu 8.10 without MCE and have had the card working with Kaffeine. I have now re-installed MCE/hybrid (8.10) but during the setup video, the card is not listed as an available device. Should it be? I have checked dmesg output and everything looks ok. I have selected VDR (best for dvb?) which shows a big NO SIGNAL message which I assume is because it isn't aware of the Hauppauge card? Any ideas on what I should try next?

Installation issues / Re: Media Director boot error.

Yes, the black screen with the white button. It times out on that screen eventually but I don't see anything pausing prior to that screen being displayed.

Installation issues / Media Director boot error.

During boot of my hybrid system, I get an error form informing me that a device did not start correctly. Where do I look to get detailed information for the error?

Thanks,

Cramer

Installation issues / Re: Sangoma VOIP card install / Asterisk

My script building skills are very rusty at the moment. However, the procedure is straight forward, as documented in the link below.

Update. I have followed the new Sangoma install guide specific to the B600 card and the card is now found when I run the  wanrouter hwprobe  command and no errors reported via dmesg.

I'm not sure I do need to go under the LinuxMCE hood but just starting to feel my way. My experience in the past has been that wrapper software often doesn't provide full access to the underlying product. If FreePBX does it all then that suits me. Unfortunately, dmesg is reporting unknown symbols for the Sangoma wanpipe interface (e.g. wanpipe: Unknown symbol register_wan_device) so I am chasing these at the moment. I will be reading the sipuura wiki once I get past the wanpipe problem.

Thanks guys.

I wasn't sure how to determine which version of Asterisk is installed by MCE so I have downloaded Zaptel 1.4.21, compiled it and now the sangoma card has installed. Now to start using it.

What I am not yet clear on is how much I configure Asterisk directly (as per the Asterisk docos) or whether I do everything through the MCE interface. I have assumed that more sophisticated use of Asterisk may require direct configuration. I would appreciate a lead on this.

Users / Orbiter menus missing
« on: July 26, 2009, 08:55:46 pm »
I am running a hybrid core - 8.10. I am finding quite often that after I take the Orbiter menu option to the KDE desktop, I can't get get back the the Orbiter menus. The OrbiterGL / PhotogalleryVie and pluto-xone-playback menu items  appear in the task bar. When clicking the OrbiterGL item, the current window loses focus but the menus do not appear? I have tried the menu button on the Gyration controller but that has no effect either.

Installation issues / Sangoma VOIP card install / Asterisk

Newbie question:

I am installing a Sangoma B600 card into my core (8.10) as the basis for my Asterisk setup.

During install of the Sangoma driver (Wanpipes), I am asked the question:

Please select the working zaptel directory

I have searched for zaptel.conf and dahdi.conf files as I assumed if I found those, that would be the directory to enter but I can't find either. Asterisk is ticked in the Admin site so I assume that Asterisk and support libraries have been installed. How do I locate the required directory?

Thanks,

Cramer
