Users / Core Loading Isssues
« on: December 27, 2010, 10:32:54 pm »
Hello, I'm new to Linux MCE and seem to be having some issues.

When switchingon my core an Orbiter is loading, not the Hybrid/Core. The first time I loaded the box up all was ok and I got the Hybrid/Core interface, but not now... I did enter the web admin section and ever since then I seem to have had the issue.

Can any one help?

Regards

Users / 710 and 810 Differences
« on: December 24, 2010, 12:27:17 pm »
Hello

I am buidling my own house, and at design stage played around with LinuxMCE 710, I'm at the stage now where I'll need to start setting stuff up in the next two months, and would like the latest version, which is 810 (Beta). But I can't really findn what the major differences are in the two versions or screenshots of the latest... anyone have any links?

Installation issues / Re: Storing the Channels.conf

Got the valid output and then rebooted the core.

I don't think it is the signal, it's pretty good in this area and other boxes in the past have worked fine (freeview).

The card was installed a little while after I installed the core. Do you think it would be worth reinstalling the lot so the card is in there for the install?

This is driving me crazy now, all I get is a big No Signal across the middle of the screen.

I did update go into the admin site and upload the new channels.conf file.

Any other suggestions?

I decided to move my PC to the lounge and plugged in the house arial, I had one of those portable ones that said Digital TV Antenna, and hey presto managed to run the command and lots of channels started tuning, however, when I went to the VDR in LMCE still got the No Signal message.

Hi,

From reading installation instructions on mythTV installing applification signal is important:

http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Hauppauge_WinTV_Nova-T_500_PCI

When I run their command:

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ sudo gedit /etc/modprobe.d/options

I get

sudo: gedit: command not found

Any ideas?

Installation issues / Storing the Channels.conf

Hello Guys

New to linux so help would be appreciated. I'm trying to tune channels in using instructions from:

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/VDR#Scanning_for_Channels

I have a Hauppauge Nova-T 500.

Got up to the 6th dotted blue box under Storing Channels and below is the out put:

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ cd /home
linuxmce@dcerouter:/home$ sudo scan -o vdr -p -u /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/uk-Mendip > channels.conf
bash: channels.conf: Permission denied
linuxmce@dcerouter:/home$

Why do I get a "bash: channels.conf: Permission denied" error? What can I do to sort it out?

If I cd out and then run the command I do get a whole load of difference gump, but it still doesn't work:

linuxmce@dcerouter:~$ sudo scan -o vdr -p -u /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/uk-Mendip > channels.conf
scanning /usr/share/doc/dvb-utils/examples/scan/dvb-t/uk-Mendip
using '/dev/dvb/adapter0/frontend0' and '/dev/dvb/adapter0/demux0'
initial transponder 754167000 0 2 9 1 0 0 0
>>> tune to: 754167:I999B8C23D999M16T2G32Y0:T:27500:
WARNING: >>> tuning failed!!!
>>> tune to: 754167:I999B8C23D999M16T2G32Y0:T:27500: (tuning failed)
WARNING: >>> tuning failed!!!
ERROR: initial tuning failed

Done.

Ideas???

Thanks

Installation issues / External Network
« on: June 16, 2008, 03:38:06 pm »
Hello Guys,

Hope you can help me out.

I have installed LMCE and the internal network side of things seems to be fine on my core. It's the external network that is giving me an issue. My computer successfully connects to my wireless and obtains IP and I can surf the net.

My set up is:
1xEthernet Port called eth0 --- 192.168.0.3 --- DHCP
1xWireless Port called ath0 --- 192.168.80.1 --- Manual

When I go to the Orbiter click Advanced then Advanced again and then Network Settings I get the following information:

Using DHCP: no
IP:
Netmask:
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS1: 192.168.0.1
DNS2: 192.168.0.1

I've gone into the web application set up and clicked on Advanced  > Network > Network Settings. I get the follow:

EXTERNAL_IFACEeth1
EXTERNAL_MAC

EXTERNAL_IP

EXTERNAL_NETMASK

EXTERNAL_DHCP0
INTERNAL_IFACEeth0
INTERNAL_MAC00:07:E9:48:DE:50
INTERNAL_IP192.168.80.1
INTERNAL_NETMASK255.255.255.0
GATEWAY192.168.0.1
DNS1192.168.0.1
DNS2192.168.0.1

I am assumming somewhere I need to configure the External_IFace to use the ath0 port but I can't find an option to do this any where. Furthermore, the mention of a eth1 port has confused me as when I go into my Kubuntu System SetUp and go to networks only eth0 and ath0 are listed.

Any help would be appreciated guys!!!
