Users / thinking about new av receiver
« on: July 29, 2014, 11:42:28 pm »
I was wondering, since my current again receiver is getting long in the tooth, what I would buy as a replacement. I figure a ethernet-port would not be a bad idea.
So what do you guys think....got some suggestions?

Thanks for your input. Perhaps I will just wait until 12.04 or 14.04 has become stable and will try it again then.
If you ever make it to Germany, be sure to ring me up....frosty milk, or cold beer...your choice

Like I said,I don't know either. I can access the damned thing from Windows, only lmce doesn't care about it. Some of the other devices I unblocked showed up again, but not the nasbox. I would invite you over, so you could see it with your own eyes, but I guess that would be quite a stretch :-)

There is nothing showing in the devicetree. Perhaps I should check in irc.

The NAS simply does not get discovered. It gets an IP address from echo and I can access it from my Windows box...lmce..no go so far. However I checked for unknown devices. I will just unblock them all and hope that will kick it into gear.

Update: I changed the cable on the NAS, rebooted it, threw out all unknown devices and waited. The only thing that showed up was this bogus dlink530 device...

The NAS is connected via a gigabit Ethernet switch together with all the rest. It is configured for public access, no username, no password needed. It also uses lmce-filestructure.
Software is the standard firmware from Seagate...no modifications. In theory, on would assume, that everything should be working, unfortunately once disagrees.

One other question comes to mind: when does updatemedia actually run? I'm asking, because so far I always have to manually add new files to the database or hit synchronize. I checked the status of updatemedia and it was stopped.when I start it, it will run for a while and stops again...so is there a fixed intervals, or a trigger?

I got a NAS, which I used in a previous install with once-restructure (8.10). Now running 10.04 I wanted to reactivate the NAS, unchanged configuration, but it doesn't get detected. I modified smb.conf, restarted everything, but no change.

Well, qorbiter is your baby, but I know lmce is a team effort.

I can confirm that qt5- version is crashing after the loading screen. I tried updating skins, but no change.
Qt4 works nicely
Cheers!

I tried downloading from here http://langstonball.com/linuxmce/item/15-qorbiter-downloads, which was unsuccessful.
By the way, if that is going to be your primary download-site, could you perhaps edit your first post in the thread? It would make it easier to find. In addition to that, could you also provide a link for the qt5 variant, unless you have reason not to do this at this time.
As for the qorbiter, when selecting a movie for playback, I get only a fileid displayed, instead of movie details....or this this skinning issue?

Anyways, thanks for the opportunity to test your software..always a pleasure.

Hmm...how to pause playback of a movie...the slider works nicely, but so far pausing seems not possible

booting/ shutting down md - seems I don't know where, or if it's possible at present
The IP-camera just lags controls

Ok, since you are asking :
Booting/ shutting down md
Switching tv-channels..perhaps I'm doing something wrong?
My latest toy..IP camera. The old orbiters on Windows handles it nicely
Buttons for power need adjustment (display on, display off...I guess)
Handling for skin-updates...would it be possible, that for example qorbiter checks upon startup, if skins need an update and performs it, if needed?....I know I'm a spoiled brat...

If something else comes to mind, I'll let you know :-)

So far you are right, I'm talking android.
When I tried your latest build,I deleted the linuxmce folder on my ccellphone and started orbiters. I did no put a refinished,so it listed the orbiters and I selected mine...i could for moment see the background image from qorbiter and then it crashed. I tried again from the Beginning, this time I entered the devicenumber and it crashed again
