Compatible Products & Services / Wireless video to projector?
« on: June 04, 2008, 12:18:16 am »
Does anyone know of any device compatible with Linux MCE that can transmit VGA wirelessly to a projector? I've been thinking about setting a system up if my dad's worker's comp case goes through and if we did we would have our projector on this shelf we have at the top of our living room (vaulted ceilings so it's about 10 feet up) and it's too high to touch manually and if we put the system up there then it would be nearly impossible to use the optical disk drive, restart it, etc. We need to have the system at ground level and then send the VGA signal wirelessly to the projector, does anyone know of a product that does this that will work with Linux?

I'm still not following why you would use a 2-color LCD to navigate rather than the MCE's interface. It just seems like a lot of money to spend on a case in my opinion.

Compatible Products & Services / Anyone use this instead of USB-UIRT?
« on: December 31, 2007, 02:41:32 am »
I saw this on newegg when looking for remotes:
Does anyone have one? Does the IR emitter work the same the USB-UIRT does? Does LinuxMCE pick it up?

Would someone mind summarizing what's been said so far? Does the gPC chipset work? I was thinking about picking it up at ClubIT for $60:
But obviously if it won't work then I won't get it.

This hard drive has the best price per gb ratio of all the hard drives on newegg:
If you really want to make sure you stretch your pennies as far as possible, unless you're really set on a 750gb.

Compatible Products & Services / Wireless VGA? Display on CRT tv?
« on: December 30, 2007, 11:14:37 pm »
Hi, I'm trying to see how feasible it would be to set up an MCE in my home. One thing that I'm curious about is whether or not such a thing exists as a wireless VGA. I'm considering mounting this projector:
in my living room but it would be mounted on the ceiling and therefore quite far away from the core system. Is there a wireless system for any of the input ports that projector has on it so I don't have to get giant wires and run them through the attic?

My next question has to do with old CRT tv's. All of our TV's except for one are of the old CRT variety and use cable connections for video. Both of my thin clients I plan to build will have Hauppauge 150's on them, am I able to use this card's cable out port to view my desktop on my TV? Will I have to configure this by plugging it into a regular PC monitor first?
