Users / Play WMA music files
« on: October 22, 2007, 07:17:43 pm »
Any one know how I can add WMA support to linuxMCE? I have tried adding the W32Codecs as suggested in Wiki, but they don't seem to be available any more.

1/ go to /usr/pluto/bin
2/ ./LMCEUpdate_DownloadXml.sh
3/ ./LMCEUpdate
4/ still downloadind, however I guess I have to do
./LMCEUpdate_Apply.sh

Thanks for the advice Lightsoul,
I seem to be able to copy media into public->data->audio if I do it as SUDO and I have copied accross all the folders with music in them, but then LinuxMCE still cant see it. Do I need to reload anything in order for the media to be seen.

Users / copy media to core??
« on: October 12, 2007, 07:37:00 pm »
Hi, I have LinuxMCE up and running, and all seems to be going well. At the moment I have a it installed on a nice fresh clean HDD from the DVD install.
I have all my media nicely backed up on another USB HDD which I have plugged into MCE and all is well, it sees my files and I can play them all.

However, MCE will only play the media if the USB HDD is switched on, and I would like to copy the files off the external HDD onto the core machine so they are always accessable. Can any one give me some advice, a step by step guide on how to do this or point me in the right direction, either through LMCE or the KDE desktop??

Thanks in advance for you help, its always much appreciated!

Thanks Zaerc,
It was NFTS, but I also tried it with a FAT32 memory stick with no joy! I will try unmounting the drive and see what happens.

I think the install DVD is better, much much faster.

Thanks for all the replies, sorry I have not got back sooner.

Stingly: It is a USB hard disk, which contains all my media, and it is connected direct to the computer. I can browse it from the KDE desktop, but cant see any of the media on it from LinuxMCE.

Hagen: I think i chose 'make all content public' although i chose another drive also and picked 'Use the LMCE folder structure' and neither seem to give me access to any of my media through MCE  :'(

Zaerc: Thanks, I had a little look in Files & Media > Media Files Sync in the web admin, and couldnot see any media, I will have another play around in the Web Admin, and see if I can gt it to work.

Thanks again guys, I will post any updates, and let you know how I get on.

Users / Cannot add media :o( (SOLVED)
« on: September 28, 2007, 01:00:36 pm »
Hi,
I've installed Linux MCE from the DVD and it all seems to be working ok. If I put in a CD it plays the music, if I put in a DVD it plays the film.

I am having trouble getting any media onto the computer. when I add an external HD. It recognises it and says it has added it, but I cant browse the drive to get media off it. I also cannot extract music from CD's etc so I have no way of adding media.

Has any one had any similar problems?

Installation issues / Re: How to get the Quick install DVD

Ok, I'm now assuming its a problem with the ISO files from 'mirror.chibiko.net site' being corrupt in some way.
Has any one downloaded this ISO recently and installed it successfully??

I am trying a different site to download and the torrent, I will let you all know if I have any success!!

For anyone watching this thread, Ive thrown the file up as parts on the mirror.chibiko.net site. so you just need to copy them together in binary format and it *should* work... (just testing a cat of it now.. windows instructions will be on the site too)

I can confirm 'mirror.chibiko.net' works great, thanks atreidae.

Although, when I tried a fresh clean install it failed with the following message:

Gzip: Stdin: Compressed Data -- Format violated
tar: Child died with signal 13
tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors

then it just freezes  :-\ any help would be appreciated.

Is this the same problem you are having Matsjo????

Installation issues / Installed ok, except bottom of screen!
« on: September 10, 2007, 08:31:48 pm »
Hi Guys,
I have installed Linux MCE from the 2 CD's on a Ubuntu (Feisty) machine. It all seemed to be going rather well.
I did get an OpenGL error, but I changed the video set up and it now seems to be ok.......

Except for the bottom of the screen. It is clipped, from the top of the 'next' button down :( I have tried changing the screen resolution and that doesn't help. All the green install windows fitted just great, but on the actual MCE screens I cannot read any of the buttons along the bottom!

Has any one else had this, and can any one offer any possible solutions?

Thanks in advance,

Mbgm8
