Users / Re: Can u Check my Network Diagram

I'm not familiar with the FIOS wireless router, but if it's similar to the Linksys or Netgear with 1 WAN port and 4 LAN ports, plug one of the LAN ports into your gig switch.  If you go into the WAN port, it may not work. At least that what I had to do with my Linksys.

Hello, I too would like to know how are equipment templates added to LinuxMCE for others to use?  I'm also interested in adding auto-configure of detected devices to LinuxMCE.

Does anybody have any follow up on this effort?

Installation issues / Re: Yet another issue...

I'm pretty sure that is not a valid installation sequence. From everything I've read RC1 only installs on top of a fresh (Unpatched) version of 7.04 Kubuntu installation. After LinuxMCE is installed it should be okay to update.  Though, I found if you update the kernel libs you break some of the mods. In my instance the lirc and tuner drivers .. had to revert back to previous kernel to get to work again.

Users / Re: Photos for users

I had the same issue with beta2. I eventually just deleted all my users and recreated without pictures. It appears something is broken on the picture upload for users. It worked fine on version 1.0, so I'm at a loss. Kinda odd that you can't delete/clear a user picture either.

Users / Adding user Photo crashes Beta2 Orbiter menu generator
« on: June 20, 2007, 11:39:39 pm »
I'm not sure if it's just me, but thought I would throw this out in case anybody else noticed this..

I have installed Beta2, and went through the initial wizard to setup the first user and other settings. After going to the Pluto Admin page, I started adding additional users.

Starting with Beta2, when I upload the user photo, I noticed it wouldn't display in the browser. I pulled up the properties of the img src and tried to display just the photo image in my browser, but all it displays is an image that contains the text of the path of the photo, not the actual photo. Also when I updated the user record, the Orbiter announced a change and needed to rebuild the menu's, etc. After it finishes, it pops again and again on the orbiter to regenerate the menus. And I do mean again and again and again. It never succeeds in building the new menus when I have a user photo uploaded.

Once I deleted the user (because there isn't an option to delete the photo associated with the user), the orbiter generator finishes properly.

If it would help, I could recreate the situation and upload necessary log files for somebody to look at.  Just point me at the right log files needed.

Thanks,
Ed

Yeah, i couldn't find any information about which IRC servers anywhere, either. But I did happen to randomly search around and found a #linuxmce channel on irc.freenode.net with a few people in it.
