I am just going to put my 2 cents in. My machine is so new that 7.10 won't install. The Hard Drive won't recognize as described above. The only option I had was to try the 810 Alpha install. I am still trying to see if that works out.

The problem I think is the driver for the controller board for his motherboard. Burn a 7.10 cd try to install see if you get no hard drive error. Then do the same with a 8.10 cd. If the 8.10 finds the hd and the 7.10 doesn't you are in the same boat I am.

Fixed:
Well I might have found a work around. Go into your bios. Setup your sata from IDE to Raid. Then try to install 7.10 again. All of a sudden it found my hard drive after I tried that. The alpha install didn't work for 8.10.

Users / Re: Why you use LinuxMCE

I use it because of the Sony VGP-XL1B support. I have way to many DVD's and it uses the DVD changer as a player.

I made the mistake of not buying 4 of them when I had the chance.
I have 2 myself and I am really sad to say that I probably won't be getting a new one because there are none out on the market. LinuxMCE uses them well. I was so upset because no matter what system I was looking to use they all wanted to just use them as a Ripping station. Which was upsetting. I use it as a DVD player and I love it. Now I only have 300 dvd's I have to look through and put into my DVD drive.

Users / Manage Media Display issue.

I was wondering if anyone has seen or knows how to fix the following:

I have 2 VGP-XLB3s attached to my LinuxMCE core. When I go into the manage drive part of the system. I click the scroll down button and around the third flip of the menu it becomes blank. I know that I have 200 discs in the system and can see them under video. I am also able to play any of the discs that are not listed in the management gui.

The only reason I am asking is because I was wondering if anyone was aware of an issue with the gui or what I can do to fix the gui?

I have been trying to map my remote to do things for a few days. I have not figured it out yet. If you get an answer let me know. Also I will update you if I figure it out. I know how to get it set the remote up in the system under the admin. I get the codes in to the remote assigned to my device template. I just need to figure out how to assign the button presses to do things on the UI.

Users / Re: EPG No Data?
« on: November 23, 2007, 01:48:01 pm »
I took a chance and ran mythfilldatabase manually hoping that is how you update the EPG data for LinuxMCE. It the data is now there. The next question I have is will it mess up my installation? It took me a good week to work out the bugs on the install and would hate to have to install everything again.

« on: November 23, 2007, 01:05:57 pm »
Has anyone run into this issue:

When I installed LinuxMCE np(  ;D ) everything is working fine. When I orginally used the system the first day I had recieved EPG data. The information about my channels was correct. Skip forward 2 days. I pop open the TV and use the guide and it is blank.

I check the mythtv web to see what is up and it has a days worth of data an nothing for the future. Is there a process that I screwed up or a script I can run to get the data populated correctly?

Feature requests & roadmap / Re: Orbiter for other cell phones...

I would love to see someone to program an Orbiter for the Palm OS. It would be nice because I know that my wife and I both use our Palm devices and they go with us everywhere.

Installation issues / Multiple Entries in Video List
« on: November 21, 2007, 05:32:32 am »
I finally got LinuxMCE up and running kind of.  :'(

Here is my problem. I went to watch tv. After watching tv and changing the channel a few times. I now have a list of tv shows in my video list. It was like they were being added to the video list while I was watching tv. First was Doctor Phil.  Anyone know about this?

There are 2 things I want.
1. Remove them out of my video list.
2. Stop them from showing up in the list. (Doctor phil in list 10 times and I can't delete it from the UI.)

Thanks in advance.

To get the wizard to start you might have to do what I had to do. I got the information from here.

Users / Re: Comments on the LinuxMCE update mechanism
« on: November 19, 2007, 01:52:03 am »
The update is broken for me. I have a nonstandard install.
LinuxMCE on a standard install will not function correctly. My TV blinks to a black screen or it locks up trying to start the frontend. The only way I was able to fix this issue was to download and install the newest drivers from nvidia.

The update gives me the correct screens telling me it is using the schedule direct site but the Data Provider script still points to the zap2it.

Also before I was able to execute the update the first time I rebooted the system. This left a lock file which cause me not to be able to download the patch. Looking into the log file I realized the lock file was there removed it and executed LMCEUpdate_DownloadXml.sh and it was able to download and install the patch.
