Also want to add that within 8 weeks I will have an 100mbit up/down optical fiber connection.
I have an Vmware ESX host that can easily can host 10 vm's just dedicated for you guys.
I don't wish to be rude, but these two statements don't seem to fit well together. I don't know about the Netherlands, but in most countries, the benefits system is not sufficient to fund this kind of set-up
This may be one of the reasons you don't seem to be being taken seriously.

I'm sure there are those that can, and will, justify the expense. Sadly, I can't

I just had a quick look and it would seem to be a very interesting little device, until I got to the store.
The price is quoted as 345 Swill Francs, which equates to around £225 or $360 (US). I don't know about others, but that as waaaaay too much for me to consider, unless it can do something amazing that UIRT can't do.
If you add the cost of the MD and the TV, it becomes a very expensive installation when the practical benefit is actually quite limited (as far as I can see).
Please tell me that either the price is wrong, or I'm missing something here (or preferably both!)

I assume you went down the whole adding the module to the config route?
I had a similar issue a few months back, that just went away again with a later snapshot. Before you go spending money, it might be worth posting the information about the current kit, just to make sure!

Just to clarify (for you and for anyone else who stumbles across this thread!)..
ping is a useful utility because, unless firewalls and stuff are actively stopping it, ANY device on an IP network should respond. The problem with using a web browser etc is that it relies on a much higher-level application (a web server) running on the device. A lot of kit doersn't have such an application and many that do have them running on non-standard ports, for various reasons. Ping is a lot quicker too!
Regarding the reboot thing. LinuxMCE is a complex system that sits on top of a Linux Operating System (the Kubuntu distribution). Part of LinuxMCE is a piece of software that passes event messages between the various subsystems. This is known as the DCE Router and, as I understand it, that is what is reloaded by the "reload router". The IP address is handled by a much lower part of the system, far closer to the OS. Now, there are ways of getting that part to re-configure without a reboot and I don't know for sure if MCE does this itself, but the surest way of making it re-configure is a reboot, then EVERYTHING gets reloaded! (Maybe I have been playing with Windoze too much, hell you walk past a Windoze box and it needs a reboot
) If you system doesn't survive a reboot, you have problems anyway, since there will be times that you need to bring the server down (like to upgrade hardware) so you need to be sure that you can do this ok. Simply editing the config files does not necessarily cause the system to use the new config.
Of course, my suggestions may not help, in which case you are probably no worse off......

« on: December 24, 2010, 06:43:21 am »One thing most of these android tablets are missing is a simple, charging stand/cradle.Have you seen the gizmo Duracell have released for portable devices? You only have to leave the device on a pad (looks a bit like a mousemat) for it to charge!
Not tired one yet (anyone got one?) but as soon as my new iPhone arrives, I may be tempted. Certainly, with the number of devices we now have at home, a pad in each room (and one on my desk at work) would save carrying around a lot of chargers / leads!
Just a thought....

It looks like, for whatever reason, your second card is not, actually, recognising the second card properly. It should be named eth1, not eth0:1 (This is a second address on you "external" card.)
