Title: Endless reboots 8.10 network install
Post by: Afkpuz on March 05, 2010, 03:30:03 am
Ok, I've done a network install of beta2.5.  I basically followed the steps exactly as written here

http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Installing_0810

Only thing I changed is I installed the nvidia driver using the gnome install dameon.  Anyway, after rebooting, I get a cycle of endless reboots.  It makes it past the beeps, but the screen resets too fast for me to see anything.  I had to take a video of the process in order to see the message.  Here's what I see.  The video is a bit blurry, so I might have some typos.

kinit: no resume image, doing normal boot...
Error 2002 (a # i can't read) can't connect to local MYSQL server through socket...

Ok, that seems to be the main message I get.  It then says "All MDs are down. Continuing."  Any help guys? also, I just discovered that the torrent is now fixed. I will definitely be trying that method too if this doesn't work out.

I'm getting the same problem off the DVD install

I'm seeing the same MySQL message, but I can't make out what exactly it's saying.  I performed both the DVD install using the instructions on the wiki, and I also tried the net install. Both seem to be problematic.  I'm going to be doing more troubleshooting.

**Update**: I saw the following thread that I think may be useful.
