Title: no sound in myth with pvr-150
Post by: skeptic on May 15, 2009, 01:46:32 am
I have a pvr-150 that has been in use with s-video inputs only for months.  I'm fairly sure the tuner, including sound, was working fine at one time, but now that I am ditching my cable box and therefore no longer using s-video input I reconnected the cable.  I'm able to tune channels and get a picture, but there no sound at all when watching live TV via Myth with this card.  If I switch to an HDHomeRun tuner the sound works fine.  This is true on both the core/md where the tuner is as well as trying to watch from a MD.

Before I try deleting the PVR-150 from linuxmce and myth then run through the setup wizard again, can anyone give me ideas of stuff to check?

After messing around and not finding anything I went ahead and removed the PVR-150 and let lmce find/add it again.  Sound works fine now.  I'm pretty clueless as to what was wrong, but at least it works and if anyone in the future runs into this and finds this thread, that's the fix.

Hi skeptic,

Just wondering... did you check your alsamixer settings before you rebuilt?

Sorry I'm late.

cHEERS.

Yup, that was the first thing I checked.

My only guess is that it has something to do with device pipes and the fact that I set it up to only use s-video from the cable box (the only way to get all Comcast digital cable channels).  I really don't know much about device pipes though, so I may be completely wrong.  There was probably a simply way to fix it without the full remove/add stuff but I couldn't figure it out so I decided to give that a shot instead of waiting and hoping someone would tell me where I screwed up.
