Hi, I got lmce to detect my transceiver and it starts installation but "failed to get LIRC Daemon, client library headers and modules" comes up followed by "failed to get pluto dce wrapper". Any suggestions?
-
Same problem here when trying to add my serial IR receiver.
-
well either nobody knows or cares, so if you get it going let me know. 8)

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

apt-get update

You can change the mirrors.txt lines to old-releases following this:

A couple of things. The canonical archive is likely not providing software anymore and medibuntu flat out doesn't exist anymore.
deb http://old-releases.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ saucy main restricted
This is how the old-releases entries should look. Adjust for your distro.

Lirc-pluto? Weird. No idea what's supposed to be in there.
At this point I'd really suggest you upgrade.

Hi phenigma
I have tried the upgrade, but 14.4 doesn't play half of my mp4 video files. every single one of my mp4 videos play perfect on 10.4, for some reason the xine player after 10.4 doesn't want to play the video files, the same thing happens on a clean install of Ubuntu Desktop 16.
I have installed every video code for play back and still it doesn't play. its not the mp4 files as dragon player plays them find, once you logged is root and run sudo dragon to allow the video & audio codes to download and install.
so for now, its 10.4
Cheers
Gov

Have you tried the vlc-player instead of xine on 1404? It's still beta but working.
edit: fyi: mp4 is a container, not a codec. Some players play files that are damaged. The fact that dragon player plays the files does not automatically infer that the files are not improper or damaged.

Thanks for mentioning VLC. I've not been happy with xine because zooming stopped working some time ago.
VLC is working great so far.
