Title: Panasonic Plasma RS232?
Post by: jwarder on February 15, 2009, 08:19:26 pm
Hi,

I know the Panasonic plasma's use the Viera link, is there any sort of template so you could control the TV through this connection rather than using IR?

Cheers,
Jack

Viera link is just Panasonic's brand name for the standard CEC feature of HDMI. Bottom line is there is no common agreement or understanding of how to use this between manufacturers, which has meant that support for the interface in Linux drivers has not yet arrived. If you cannot access the hardware then no amount of LMCE device templates will let you use it to control anything.... sorry!

Hi Andrew,

How is the IR programming going for the Panasonic TV?
I emailed steve a list of discrete IR codes, you probably have already seen them, I've attached the PDF file anyway for you to have a look.

Thanks,
Jack
