Hi,
I have ordered some normal movement detectors and wanted to use them together with the Merten 506004 (http://wiki.linuxmce.org/index.php/Merten_506004_Connect_Radio_Transmitter_FM_4gang) but now it struck me - maybe it won't work !?
Can the 506004 be configured as a surveilance device ?
I can still cancel the order, so I would like some feedback on this ;)
Greetings

Does Merten 506004 work for you? How have you connected them with your security system?
-
no, IIRC, the problem is that they unfortunately are seen as one device and therefore it could maybe be used for one movement detector per piece.
But I have not hade time to test anything with them, so maybe that will also ot work.
But ask Hari, he will know.

I'm looking at WIKI and as I haven't used many of these types of devices I just don't get how are they supposed to work.
Ok, now I found one image so I can see what is supposed to do: http://www.elektronetshop.de/dokumente/artikel/FotoKlein/00025826_0.jpg
Please correct me if I'm wrong; This device has 9 wires, 4 switches (2 wires each) and ground. Device is battery operated and send low voltage, when any of 4 contacts are connected device sends zwave signal to controller (Core).
So this device could be used so that you any kind of push button connected to it, some examples would be:
* classic wall lighting switch that you connect to it (up to 4 light switches)
* pressure sensor (simple button that would connect when somebody steps on it)
* door or window security sensor (sends signals when doors are open or closed)
* ???
Hari have you played with this device?

For what can this device be used for? Does it need line voltage (110/220V) or does it operate only with battery? If I understood it can't be used to turn on light or any other device directly, just to relay signals, right? You can't send signals to this device and make ti do something, just collect signals, right?

Correct. You pair it with regular momentary switches, and use it to initiate activity.

It sounds like it another multi-level device that is similar to some of the two paddle MK Astral Zwave switches we are testing. Hari has been testing some new multi-instance device support on one of our test systems today. Sometime in the next week or so I would imagine there will an updated Zwave binary that will have at least some support the inclusion of these types of device (although some setup may be in manual mode still for a while).
All the best
Andrew
