I am wondering if I can change the current behavior of MCE a bit. When you add a song through the orbiter to your current playlist it starts to play right away. Is there a way to add it to the playlist without starting the song right away and continue the playing song.

I've never tried it - but in the web admin go to the OnScreen orbiter device of the MD you want to do this on. In its device template you will see the option "Queue instead of instant play". Try checking that and reloading the router. Sounds like this should work for you.

Yes its very annoying, and quiet the opposite of intuitive behaviour when compared with most "media players". What you are looking for is an "enqueue" function.
Jon - no, sorry, you are not looking at 0710 you are looking at a later update. I logged a feature request for this a long time ago in Mantis. Thom gave me the same advice, but then we discovered that it was a post0710 update, so we will have to wait until 810 comes out...

collinjones - you are correct - I noticed this option in 0810. I'll give it a test when I get a chance

I tried the queue option at one point and it did not work

I would be really keen to find out, as it is probably the main feature I have been waiting for for the last year! Someone must have added it for a reason.. wonder why it doesn't work (if that is the case)

It was one of the last things Pluto were working on before they stopped working on the code. The device data is there, but none of the supporting code was added in the media plugin to utilise it.
As always, we're looking for anyone to fill in the missing pieces. :)

Actually I was looking into that under 0804, but then kubuntu-8.10 got released... And now I still feel a bit burned out from doing the alphas.
-
Actually, I think the affected code is in the Media Plugin.

is it valid, then, to have the device data in the Orbiter device then if it is actually for the media plugin code?
-
yes, because each orbiter may want different behaviour.

as Thom was saying.. Having that option under Orbiter makes a lot of sense. For example, you can set it up so that selections from the On-Screen orbiter instant play, but if you use your mobile orbiter queue it up instead, etc.

Just a question, I am trying to follow the discussion.
Is it possible already in 7.10 to change this behavior centrally for all Orbiters in the media plugin ?
-
no it isn't possible in any version, even 0810
