Title: Harmon Kardon AVR-254 with RS232
Post by: Rukus on January 04, 2009, 11:47:17 pm
Hi All,

I'm looking into buying an AV receiver, and I came across the Harmon Kardon AVR-254 with RS232 for a pretty good price.  It has an RS232 port, along with HDMI out, which is exactly what I've been looking for.  I'm thinking it'll work with my system using an RS232 to USB converter cable, but I want to be certain before I purchase it.  If anyone has any input regarding this model or brand and its ability to work with LMCE, feel free to let me know.  Below is a link to the HK website for more information

http://www.harmankardon.com/specifications.aspx?Region=USA&Country=US&Language=ENG&cat=REC&ser=&prod=AVR%20254&sType=C

Thanks

Ernesto

do you have pin outs for the cable and command specs for that unit ?
you will need to make a template for it.

The yamaha rx00 are pnp with lmce

Thanks for the reply Tim. The prices on Yamaha's aren't as bad as thought they'd be, I will take your advice and just get one of those.  Just so I'm clear, any of the RXV-1x00's will work on LMCE using pnp?

RX-V1x00(RS232) is how the template is listed. I believe the original template was for the 1500 or 1700... so any yamaha with same rs232 commands should work fine.

Another idea,

Marantz receivers are pretty well opened to integration.... Currently from 5000 series upward....
